Average cost of preparing for a comp

Hi

I'm toying with the idea of doing a small local comp next year and would be interested to hear from those of you who've competed what you would say the financial cost of preparing for a comp is (need to budget). I appreciate that there are a lot of variables such as amount of food eaten, gear used etc but even a ballpark would be useful. I just fancy giving it a go to see what kind of shape I can get myself into.

Thanks guys
