![]() | Paul Booth Wins MW Title Just to let you guys know that Paul won the MW at yesterdays UKFBB qulalifer and by all accounts was looking awesome. I was lucky enough to be in text contact with Paul since saturday and he was cracking me up by telling me how close he was to making the weigh in limit. Paul is going to help me make the MW at the UKFBB finals.. its going to be very close for me as im weighing about 82kg with not much left! It will be fun if i do make it as Paul and I will be stuffing our faces back stage to see who can hit 90kg first! Anyway i am sure James and Paul will post soon on how the day was. Well done again Paul and speak to you soon pal. Fivos

![]() | Paul did indeed look great...lovely condition .. infact the MW was arguably the toughest class, with 3-4 tremendous guys all worthy of britain invites, which only the top2 got...sadly.. a good show generally tho, with dave titterton and the winner of the u90s being the hi-lites for me...along with my good friend jeannie ellam winning the ladies o57kg class...rock hard girl ..!! cheers steve |

![]() | Thanks for your kind words guys, it means a lot. It was a very stressful weekend with me having to make 80 kilos but I managed to wring 8.5 lbs out on the saturday night before the show so it was all worthwile. I also had to go in fully carb depleted so I was, to quote James, 'flat as a fart' and not exactly what you would call a coiled spring, more like the living dead. Still, once I'd weighed in it was time to hit the rice cakes. Well, i say rice cakes, it was really a huge dollop of nutella choc spread or jam with a rice cake buried under it. I had about 2 hours to cram as much simple carbs in as poss to try to fill out from the depletion so I had no time to breath between mouthfulls. Rice cakes, jam, nutella, peanut butter kit kat & sausage butties (I re classified sausages to sugar status for the day!). After eating clean all year round as I always do, this was a bizarre experience for me and I feel thoroughly ill for it now! I know this is'nt the best way to do things, and a proper depletion & loading phase would have seen me much fuller & tighter, but it would have pushed me over the weight for sure. I just did what I had to do at the time. One of my long standing bodybuilding buddies Darren Dolan came to help me tan & prepare backstage & he said this had to be my last time as a middleweight and that I was just down that end of the scales for a day trip, passing through, not stopping etc, you get the gist! Darren's a dear friend & I'd like to thank him for always coming through when I need him. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has given me support, it makes the task much easier to bear. In particular my good friend James & his lovely wife Nic for coming all the way up to 'grim up north' Oldham to stay & look after me at the show. It was a pleasure having them to stay & a pity we could'nt go out to celebrate today, but then I have put James on his diet as of today anyway so it's perhaps no bad thing. Nic & James had to make the journey home on sunday evening as James had a very early start on monday. He seems to survive on about eight mins sleep a week! What a trooper. Fivos was on hand over the weekend with text messages to keep me awake & stop me going into a glycemic coma, which was nice! Anyway, for me today was my 'chill out' and I have'nt weighed a single thing I've eaten today, even had a meal out at TGI's with my wife Paula. She was competing herself on sunday in the Northern Masters Athletics champs, which she did, then shot over to leeds for my show. What a star she is, and I love her for it. We seem to drag each other all over the world for each others competitions (in truth only Paula's are at international & world level, but we get around anyway). I'm having till wednesday eating clean diet foods, but just more of it, then back on the cardio & hard dieting for Nottingham. I've got to do enough cardio to get myself and Fivos under the weight this time! Maybe catch up with you all at Nottingham where Wade will rightfully kick my butt & take the MW UK title. A top 5 finish will be a good result for me so we will have to wait & see. Watch this space. Last edited by Paul Booth; 11-09-2006 at 09:27 PM. |

| Getting HUGE! | Well done Fiv for posting the news faster than news 24. I spent about 40 mins writing down my take on things and submitted it only for the computer to say NO! Both Nic and I had a great weekend and were well looked after by Paul and his wife. Nothing was too much for them even though they were both competing. I was whisked off to the gym on sat for a great workout by Paul and checked over by the man himself in the best posing room around. Show day itself was full of excitment and after pre judging I knew he'd won although modest Mr Booth thought otherwise. I was asked to give out the u70's prizes but I went to the organisor and asked if I could also present the Middleweight trophies as I was that sure that Paul had won. After a little reshuffling and after I said it would mean so much to both of us, he agreed. Giving Paul the winners trophy was on a par with winning a show myself. It was a real honour to give Paul his trophy. He even hugged me leaving me tango'd on stage. Well done mate. I felt so proud that you finally got recognition for your uncomprimising preparation. You will be in the top 3 at the British, mark my word, I'd even stake a Nando's on it!! cheers bud James

![]() | Cheers guys, I'll try to get some pics asap, but my pc is pre war so it may be a struggle getting the camera to talk to it. I'm getting a new pc next week so if not now, I'll pop some on then. Flex on line may well have them on by now, I have'nt had chance to look yet. Thanks again to everyone who helped & supported me. This sport has introduced me to some of the nicest, most sincere, genuine people I have ever met and I'm priveliged to stand on stage with your support. Anyway, I've cracked after a single day's blow out & I'm about to get back on the cross trainer, then off to betta bodies later this afternoon for a gentle session as I'm still a bit creaky from posing at weekend. Could'nt do the 3 days relaxing & eating whatever I wanted when I know I have Nottingham to deal with yet. Gotta look even sharper by then. Need something to take the judges eyes off Wade's barn door back! Wade, this is your year, I can feel it. Dig in all the way though mate, you know I will be! |
