Competition Questions ..

If this is a daft question I apologise in advance, but in order to compete do you have to join the federation that is running the competition ?

Also how do you work out which category to compete in ?

Oh and how do you ever feel you are up to competition standard?

Sarah you cn join most feds on the day so that's not a problem. Check with the promoter though.

As for competition standard, that's why you need an experienced eye to look at you objectively every week. Not just some yes mates who say you look lovely all the time.

From your pics you don't look too far out anyway.

Not so sure about that but ty anyway. I think we are all our owns worse critic ! I think I do have an ok base to start with though and am pretty lean all year round.

I am hoping to be moved and settled mid - end April and will get myself a hopefully decent trainer to guide me. I am aiming to hopefully compete sept so that would give me 5 months solid training/diet and I hope that will be enough.

Failing that I will just cry a lot, I am sure that will help lol

Hey hun,

The natural feds INSIST you join two weeks before your comp! NABBA and UKBFF you can join on the day. No membership for WABBA yet!

I do know of one fantastically gorgeous natural figure girl, Nickie, who missed out on the NPA as she didn't join early enough!

As to which category, some do train to 'fit' a certain group, and if you can do all the gymnastic stuff, fitness may be your thing, and the routine is weighed more heavily than the physique. I think I remember you saying you don't do the 'bouncy bouncy', so you have figure and physique to choose from, WHICH are different in the natural and 'gear' shows.

I am doing physique in naturals and 'figure' or 'trained figure' in the 'gear' shows.

ISSUES:

Figure girls are often seriously TALL so can be a problem with serious short as*es like us (especially in the UKBFF).

Physique girls are often shorter, of course exceptions.

NABBA has no 'physique' girls, (meaning we don't want any women who look like they have done steroids) and have introduced the trained figure category, so really still just fitness, figure and physique. I have heard someone say they think that the categories will end up being split into the girls that have done drugs (clen, T3, GH) as figure, and those that haven't into trained figure.

How HARD or CUT they want the figure or physique girls seems to vary in the judging criteria across the feds. EVEN the girlies in physique (which is supposed to be judged on the same as the men, what is it, size, symmetry, condition) also seems to vary. In the NPA condition seems to dominate over size, BNBF seems to like an overall full physique in preferance to seriously ripped condition.

BIG KETTLE of FISH for women!!!

I just train hard, see what my body can do, and get into the best condition I can, I think the difference is with the dehydration as far as I can tell for figure and physique. Also seems more likely for physique girls to carb load and carb deplete than the figure girls.

Oh yah, and in NABBA you have to qualify for the finals in your region, and the one for the SE is on April 22nd, NABBA does have early qualifiers, Brit finals in May, Paul knows more about all the NABBA stuff than I. There is NABBA novice in Oct/NOV, last year on same day as UKBFF Stars of tomorrow though!

Good Luck

Hun check the qualifying dates!!!!! I made this mistake last year and seriously messed up the BNBF!!! I was a month and a half out on my diet, AND I entered in the wrong category!!!!

Both NPA and BNBF (naturals) are more or less done qualifying by September, NPA has one in September, Tony Montalbano's show I think.

There are qualifiers for UKBFF in September though, NABBA will be done for the season with the exception of NOVICE. There is always Stars of Tomorrow (UKBFF), both of the last two shows usually Oct/Nov

WABBA is just getting started again in the UK, they may also have a late qualifier, however, I think they take peeps straight to worlds, or they did last year me thinks, so the standard can be quite high!!! They do seriously great shows though!

Gravesend Classic at end of August is always a good one too! Although I don't think it qualifies you for anything, may be different this year as it is 'affiliated' with the UKBFF.

Get a BEEF MAG!!!!!!!

dale_flex is on a distinguished road
Also this year n.a.b.b.a are introducing a toned figure class. Which is where they want the women to display round "toned" muscle but not to look to hard, dry or in condition. If an entrant turns up to tight they will be forced to do the trained figure class, Dale.
