![]() | Stan McQuay stars at new Mr Titan Show After an absence of eight years, the Mr Titan Show returns to the wonderful Hackney Empire Theatre, London E8 on 26th February next year. Previously a regular date on the bodybuilding show calendar, it started life in 1981 at the old Hornsey Town Hall, north London. In the mid-nineties, it moved to the Hackney Empire where it is still based. The Titan is a fiercely independent show and will introduce a number of new categories besides the regular Juniors, Seniors, First Timers (first introduced by LAMPS in the early 80's) and three 'Mr' height classes - Short, Medium, Tall. There are two classes for the ladies: Physique and Body Fitness. The new classes will be Best Physique, Male Gym Instructor/Personal Trainer; Male Firefighter and Male Police Officer as well as for the first time (in a UK based show) the Mens Body Fitness category [a combination of physique and athletic/gymnastic ability]. Stan McQuay, the Middleweight USA Champion, is flying in from California to make a spectacular appearance at the event. There could be no better venue for a bodybuilding show than the recently lavishly-restored Hackney Empire, as there is not a bad seat in the house. It importantly boasts a state-of-the-art lighting system, which is often the bane of even the most prestigious of bodybuilding shows. This will be very much a competitor-friendly show, for without the contestants, there is no show. Facilities such as pumping up weights will be provided backstage. You will be allowed to apply tanning backstage in especially designated areas. We hope the Titan will start the bodybuilding year off with a bang, and presage the launch of its sister competition - the Mr & Miss Capital City Show - in autumn 2006. Titan43 |

It is 8 years since I actually produced a bodybuilding show (the Titan '97 at the Hackney Empire) so I am feeling my way carefully. Hope we get a good response. There is no better venue for a physique show, with its big stage and state-of-the-art lighting system, which is the equal of anything in the West End. Thanks again. Titan43 (Andy) |
