what injury do i have?

i have read many articles on rotator cuff injurioes but my injury doesnt affect me with overhead pressing at all

i think it may be a shoulder impingement syndrome

it has stopped me doing pull ups (i tried them again tonight and got the shooting pain in my right front delt) and last summer i was struggling with the range of motion (when i was doing boxing training and 4 days of weights a week)

i keep putting off going to a physio for a number of reasons

1) i dont know how you do it, do you just walk in?
2) i dont want them to have to operate as it means getting work off both jobs (the doors i wouldnt get paid for time off at)
3) i dont know if i have a doctor
4) i enjoy lifting

does anyone have any ideas?

Re: what injury do i have?

Call a physio and make an appointment. £30 to £40 depending on where you live.

Get a diagnosis, and go from their

Re: what injury do i have?

well if i have been accpeted at the doctor i rang up (i went down, filled in a form and they said they would ring me but never did) there is a physio part next door
so this may be handy

if i went through my (nhs) doctor would it still be £30-£40?

No that should be free - you may just have to wait a few weeks.

Re: what injury do i have?

Have you tried the basics? - Rest,ice/heat,massage,anti inflammatories,supplementation(glucosamine/fish oil/cissus)

Your injury doesn't sound too bad as you have a decent range of motion and are able to perform the majority of exercises, try the above and obviously do not perform any exercise that aggravates the problem.

Still contact a physio for an exact diagnosis and remedial exercises. If you go down the NHS route, prepare for a long wait.

Re: what injury do i have?

ive tried rest as in having months off doing chins, 1arm db rows and dips, which were the exercises that buggered it up

i am now able to do dips but not chins and im doing bb rows instead of db ones

but i havnt had rest from the whole weightlifting routine

yeah i suspect it isnt THAT bad as i can do overhead presses, ive read that this is the first thing to go in rotator cuff or impingement problems along with benching

Re: what injury do i have?

im hopefully just getting over what you have, search the internet for a glenoid labral tear.

i was operated on 5 weeks ago, waited 18 months for the operation.

im glad that you are getting over it fella
however i will not be impressed if that is what i have :(

just done a bit of research, the symptoms seem to be included in that, rotator cuff tears and impingement syndromes
so it could be any of the three :(

im back at work now so i will look into it
