Collarbone Injury

Hi there, hope i've stuck this in the correct section. I broke my collarbone playing rugby at the beginning of last month and am back into the gym now, however, where the bones overlapped and knitted as such there is a big bump which 'apparently' goes down in time. Where the lower section of the bone overlaps the upper the line of the collar bone is different to the other and looks fairly weird. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this type of injury as i believe it is very common!

Re: Collarbone Injury

I think that's fairly common, one of my old mates did exactly the same thing, the bone healed a little raised....don't forget the muscle around that shoulder have probably atrophied a little so will make it a little more prominent.

i had the same injury as u. yes it is a common injury and in alot of cases it will settle down over time with pt. but in my case it did'nt it got worst and my shoulder blade started to wing and became very painfull. i have had months of pt, loads of xrays and an mri. to cut a long story short i had an operation two weeks a go to remove some of the bone from the end of the collarbone which will hopefully sort it out. my advice to you is to just see how it goes it may just settle down and you'll be fine, if not see a phyiso and get some scans done. best of luck mate.
