Re: Upright Rows

Upright rows can be bad for the shoulders and will do little to strengthen rotators.

There are specific movements that can strengthen rotators, do a google search and I am sure you will find them.

Re: Upright Rows

upright rows are good but can be hard on the joints&tendons... i do them every 3 weeks or so.. i prefer cleans to be honest more natural movement and involves more muscles

I just don't find them a natural movement... When I have done them I've done with with either 2 DBs or a Rope attachment on the Cable XOver to avoid wrist pain...

Don't do them any more though.

Is it even possible to do them heavy without putting excessive pressure on wrists and forearms??!???

My right wrist dislocates when i do heavy upright rows--which isnt fun, i end up walking round looking like i am stuck in some bicep pose until i snap it back in place.

I think there is a place for them as i do find them a very effective mass builder, however,i dont make them a staple and only use them sparingly with perfect form,as they are a known shoulder wrecker when performed poorly.

I would agree with that,

However a wider than shoulder width grip, where the bar comes no higher than the bottom of the pecs can hit the lateral head quite nicely if you are suited to it, but this is very different from what most consider an upright row.

So that would be a 'Partial Clean'?
