Re: Please help guys!

You said you did the rehab work and it improved so why did you stop? A couple of sessions with some restistance bands isn't going to cure the problem and allow you to jump straight back in to lifting mate.

Avoid training - I know its easier said than done, but you've got to recover otherwise you'll be stuck with this forever.

Sounds like the physio is right to me. Essentially, you've got an imbalance and your RT cuff isn't holding the shoulder in place. You might have big delts, but that doesn't mean your should joint is strong.

Did the physio give you the nod to lift again? How long was the treatment he prescribed - and how long did you follow it for? Be honest.

He didnt prescribe any particular length of treatrment. I did the rehab work for around three weeks. The pain slightly subsided but was straight back after some light indirect weight training! You may be right in saying I should give it more time. Hopefully I will get an MRI done soon to rule any other possibilities out! The problem is the pain is not local, It will differ from neck, upper back, upper left chest and bicep. Sometimes feels like heart burn!

No where near long enough to feel a real effect and certainly not long enough to enable you to lift again IMO. Are you on the waiting list for an MRI scan?

I was recently refused an MRI on my lower back due to it not causing a decrease in range of moment. The criteria is quite strict

Re: Please help guys!

Yea saw my doc this evening he was a bit confused as to what is up! I know the criteria is strict for shoulders and joints but luckily my old man is a GP. I just prey it doesn't show anything seriously wrong.

Re: Please help guys!

Right lads, had MRI scan a few weeks ago, the consultant told me I have an impingement injury in my sub-acromial space due to a shoulder imbalance! He has given me a shot of cortisone and prescribed sessions of physio to adjust my left shoulder and strengthen lower trap muscles and and all muscles that hold back and stabalise the scapula. I think this sort of imbalance is very common, does anyone know of any good rehab exercises I could do? I want to try and get a big variety of exercises into the rehab process. Cheers.

I think it might be external rotation you need to be looking at, but I could be wrong.

A physio will give you clearer guidelines.

Re: Please help guys!

Do not go and see a physio, go and see a musculoskeletal expert whose daily job is to diagnose the problem from history given. You have more than enough information to pass on, it now needs an expert to look at it otherwise as the joint, capsules and tissue wears further you will have massive problems in years to come. Take the advice.
