Glenoid Labral Tear

After 12 months out of the gym, an Mri scan, a rather large needle deep into into my shoulder, followed by various other scans. The doctors have come to the conclusion i have a labral tear, im having 3 months of physio and depending on the outcome they want to operate :(

Im gutted to be honest, i was in pretty decent shape before this happened (again). (first time was doing behind the neck press). it horrible to think im probably still a fair way away from making a full return to training as im getting a dull aching pain in the shoulder now as im typing this.

so another warning to all, dont go to far back when doing dumbbell pull overs. i was a fool to listen to the lad i was training with who told me its better to touch the floor with the dumbbell.

here is some info on the glenoid labrum, has anyone had the opp the doctor is reffering to?

Re: Glenoid Labral Tear

Hi lee,not had the op but had plenty of shoulder probs(impingement-supraspinatus) in the past caused by similar exercises and also a muscle imbalance basically due to too much pressing and not enough rowing!

I always advise against behind the neck exercises and warn ofthe dangers of flat bench as they are shoulder wreckers!

Rest and physio is the only option, hope this works for you.
