need advice on shoulder routine

hi guys.
having trouble finding a good shoulder work out??

this is what i normally do-

shoulder press/doumbell press 4 sets (8-10 reps) 4th set drop set.
bar bell raise (front delts) 4 sets (8-12 reps)4th drop
lat raise (side delts) 4 sets (8-12reps) 4th drop set
rear delts 3 sets (8-12reps)
shrugs 4 sets

i have read that this is too much and could be over training?i saw a link that suggested jusr 2 pressing sets and only 1 - 2 sets on the other exercises,as you ar always working your shoulders indirectly when working other mucsle groups.im a little confused??

could someone suggest a good routine please, looking to put a lot more size and shape on my delts!

i do have i rotater cuff injury which can flare up sometimes when pressing heavy weight.

thanks
jonah

Re: need advice on shoulder routine

Too much IMO. I usually opt for 12 sets in total for shoulders, tops.

4 sets of presses (barbell, seated dumbbell, smith presses etc)

3 sets of concentrating on side heads, (i.e. seated side laterals, standing side laterals)

2 sets of rear delt work

2-3 sets of shrug work.

If the intensity is there you can't not gain IMO. I used to batter everything with sh1tloads of sets - tried this approach & never looked back.

Jonah your routine near enough mirrors mine accept I do 4 sets on the presses and 3 on all the other exercises apart from shruggs in which i tend to do a 4th drop set sometimes.
