Question Supplements for Shoulder Injury

Iv got a mate that is constantly tearing his shoulder muscles and/or feeling acute pain in that area. He's been to a physiotherapist who thinks its a problem with his joints (specifically his tendons) - can anyone suggest some supplements that can help improve the mobility of the joint and maintain healthy ligaments and tendons??

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Cheers

Re: Shoulder Injuries

Im also have trouble with my shoulder but it only seems to be my right side, mainly on the top and the right side of my neck. Should i lay off training the shoulder for a bit, as during presses, etc it doesnt hurt, but then starts aching afterwards. Its also very achey in the mornings. Just feels odd to be that its only the one side so it must be some sort of injury.

thanks guys

Re: Shoulder Injuries

My left shoulder kills when I press.

I injured it whilst playing football. I punched the ball when I was in net and it's never been the same since.

I reckon I've knackered a joint in it.

Fish oils, and perhaps Cissus, although I personally haven't tried it there is a Cissus thread here from people who have.

Re: Shoulder Injuries

My rotary cuff is torn and its really ****ing me off, every pushing movement is just too painful to do. I have been taking tablets to reduce swelling and using heat rubs, ice and stretching it gently but it still won't go. I know someone who did the same thing and they had it for nearly 2 years before it eased off so I'm worried I'll have the same thing happen and loose all my gains. :(

If your rotator cuff is torn - you shouldn't be trying to press in the first place mate. Its still getting sore and swollen so theres def a problem. You need to take a few weeks off the gym - let it heal - then start with some strengthening exercises, this is the bare minimum What has the doc said ??

Glucosamine with Chondroitin is a very good supp for joint maintenance.

Re: Shoulder Injuries

My shoulder wasn't too bad either today, still hurt but no where near what its been like. Just stuck to light weight and high reps, did like 30 reps with the 100kg then 20 reps with 120kg, that kinda thing. Was chuffed to be able to do anything, I was getting paranoid that my chest was getting smaller through lack of use. Hopefully soon I'll be back to doing proper weights again. :beer1:

Re: Shoulder Injuries

Well, all good advice from above.
From my experiance, here are some things that might be beneficial.
Cissus
Glucosamine
Chondroitin
Fish oils for inflammation
A good anti-inflammatory drug

Also some light rotator exercises would be a good idea, weight lifting is very hard on the rotator cuff, specifically behind the neck exercises and bench press.

Some times it is muscle imballance where as many guys push alot and dont pull enough (this is how I injured my shoulder which took 3 years to heal).
