Shoulder Problems

Hi all,

I dont want to come across as a hypochondriac, (have I spelt that right?) but just thought I would ask about a niggly injury I have.

About 4 or 5 months ago, I had an issue at the top of my right arm, which manifested itself when mainly when doing dumbell incline presses. The problem was discomfort and a pain in the front delts just above where it joins with the bicep. A period of rest seemed to have almost fixed the problem but the problem appears to have moved into my shoulder instead, right in the joint at the end of my shoulder blade, and towards the front of the shoulder! I get stiffness in the shoulder too when I wake up as and can sometimes feel a slight pain radiating into the side of my neck. I cant tell you how this started or why?

There is some discomfort during the chest press, where after a while my shoulder seems to sag under the weight! :(

Three weeks of doing no weights for the upper body has not cured the problem. but I would prefer to rest now rather than exacerbate the problem by trying to train through it.

Any ideas what I might have done to myself. Is it possibly tendonitis? Can cortisone help? How long do you think something like this will take to get better? I also have tennis elbow in the same arm. Could the two be somehow linked?
:(

There is a possibility of associated pain with tennis elbow..................

could also be mild wiplash type injury

or bicep tendon not sitting in its groove properly

if rest for another 2/3 weeks dosnt help thyen look further

a good physio would point you in the right direction as its difficult with diognosing any injury, but harder when its a slight niggle

:boohoo: I think you are right samurai about going to see the physio. Over the years I have had lots of muscle injuries, so I gebnerally know what to do when I get one. But this problem just doesnt want to go away, and its hindering progress.

Maybe I am just getting too old for all this!! Time for the carpet slippers perhaps? Just kidding
