Supermarket brand breakfast oats in shakes?

I've read that adding some oats to shakes is good and I'm considered buying a tub of powdered oats from MyProtein.co.uk. But I was wondering if supermarket brand breakfast oats (i.e I have 'Morrisons Instant Hot Oats' in the house) would do the job?

Re: Supermarket brand breakfast oats in shakes?

I've been buying the 1kg Tesco, Asda bags and 'milling' them to a fine powder with my milling a attachment on my blender.
I weigh out 150g milled oats plus 40g whey and 3g creatine and a banana and make up to 750ml with water and blend.

This is a thick shake because I am bulking at the moment but works just as well with 50g of oats this is seriously cheaper and healthier than commercial MRP shakes

Re: Supermarket brand breakfast oats in shakes?

I put some oats in my shake after a workout tonight, didn't taste half as bad as I thought it would.

Yeah mate i use Morrison's version of 'Ready Brek' - which has the exact same nutritional value as regular oats - its just really smooth.

You can get a bag of traditional oats even cheaper - but i found the rougher ones iritated me guts a bit
