Rate my Shake.

This is a regular feature of my day...

250ml Semi-skimmed milk.
1 Scoop Oats.
1 Scoop unflavoured Whey.
1 x Banana.
1 x Green Tea.
Some Honey and Cinnamon to taste.
4 x Ice Cubes.

Have these regular throughout the day, substituting the bananas for other fruits, or the milk for pure unconcntrated fruit juices. I'm using these as my principle Carb source right now, after coming of a carb-cycling diet. Always tastes fantastic.

What do you think?

Green Tea has quickly become one of the most popular ingredients in next generation fat-burners because of the overwhelming evidence supporting it fat-burning and anti-oxidant properties.

Just a few of the many things that Green Tea has been shown to do:

Causes thermogenic fat loss.

Controls blood sugar, and inhibits the digestion of starch.

Exerts antioxidant effects up to 200 times more potent than vitamin E.

Provides “jitter-free” stimulatory effects.

Two researchers, Chantre and Lairon reported that supplementation of a green tea extract standardized at 25% EGCG for three months promoted a 4.6% decrease in body weight and a 4.5% decrease in waist circumference with no changes in diet or exercise. The weight loss was attributed to a direct inhibition of gastric and pancreatic lipases (fat enzymes) and a stimulation of thermogenesis.

Recent clinical research has documented the weight-loss and antioxidant powers of this natural compound. In a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, it was discovered that taking a high-potency green tea extract before breakfast, lunch, and dinner increased total 24-hour energy expenditure by 4% and also caused a significant increase in norepinephrine levels.

The major polyphenols (active compounds) in green tea are catechins, namely, epicatechin, epicatechin gallate, epigallocatechin, epicgallocatechin gallate (EGCG). The most effective are EGCG. Be careful when comparing Green Tea supplements, as many have a very low amount of EGCG’s.

Recommended Use

As a dietary supplement, take 200mg three times daily before meals. Can also be combined with other fat-loss products for an increased effect.

if you buy the green tea bags from the super, try to get the "clipper" brand,...they use an untreated paper for the bags,....

Another thing about green tea that most dont know is it makes the body more alkaline which is totally good.

But on your shake, I think that your ratio of carbs to protein is off some.
Let me explain.
If you are shooting for 40% carbs to 30% protein then you will either need to lower the carbs or up the protein.

I dont know how bug a scoop is so I cant say for sure.
Half cup uncooked oats is around 27 grams of carbs, 1 scoop of protein on average is 20-25 grams protein.
So, for every half cup uncooked oats would equal 1 scoop protein.

In perporton 1 cup of banana is 51 grams of carbohydrates, so your ratio is about 25% protein to carb, in my opinion that is too high on carbs and too low in protein.
Adding in the honey pushes this out even farther.
Also, some flax seed in there would be a good idea to get some good fats in your diet or take like 9 fish oils with that.

Re: Rate my Shake.

When your adding oats, are they just ordinary rolled oats and raw or are you cooking them before hand?

Re: Rate my Shake.

I prefer to use ground (uncooked) oats, you can get them from bulkpowders.

Re: Rate my Shake.

dunno about the green tea mate, but I guess you dont taste it....

wrt oats.. if using normal uncooked porridge oats, just blend the hell out of them, altenatively use erm.. ready brek.... just make sure that you dont wait too long between mixing and drinking, otherwise you'll be able to plaster your bathroom wall with what would have been a pretty darn good MRP

btw, what you have above is a good preWKT meal - a good alternative (probably mentioned a million times b4 on the board!) is to substitute a scoop of peanut butter instead of the "honey, cinnamon and green tea", then half the banana and double the oats for a more prolonged carb release
