Re: Best PWO shake

No I completely agree that we should try new methods etc, no one gets any benefit from living in Platos Cave all their life

I dont think it would matter all that much if you took evening primrose or cod liver with the whey as long as you had some fats in there. When you talk about insulin like repsonses from fats its no where near the level of carbs. Same with whey.

But im sure someone will find an article that says otherwise. Im just talking from experience.

I doubt you will find many on EPO and weights unless its from womens weekly...saying that GLA may though have some use

My issues is with the GI school of thought as there are so many "healthy low GI choices" that simply have refined sugars and crap fats which have a negative influence on insulin sensitivity yet rank lower on the GI than some items like fruit, when infact their GL an insulin response score is far lower

Whatever you do with whey, its pretty insulinogenic due to the leucine

Re: Best PWO shake

at the end of the day if it works who cares how it works? we can all go into details of the specifics and to be honest this sometimes clouds the big picture and that is if what you are using and doing PWO is working in the way of recovery and results stick with it....

Re: Best PWO shake

Well said.
Some people (not directed at anyone, am meaning people in genreral) seem dead set on going to the n'th degree in terms of the theory, when in reality the net effect on the end product will be minimal, if even noticeable.
The same amount of energy invested in ensuring the basics are covered will illicit a far, far greater positive effect in the long-run.

Some good sleep, some hard and varied training and lots of good wholesome foods, supplemented as appropriate. Time invested in these will produce far more results that worrying about insulin levels varying by very small degrees.

Because Tom offered up a theory and while I never doubted his or your word that it worked I just offered an alternative theory to why it works. Hell its a simple question really is it the insulin that stops the fat burning or the mere presence of carbs PWO. If its not the insulin then you could fortify the protein shake with EAAs or BCAAs to get better results. Not that any of it matters to me I suppose.
