Re: Hemp Protein

Can't say I've heard anything about toxemia, but Hemp protein is supposed to be really good. It is fairly expensive, but it has a superb amino acid profile.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get it from and how much did you pay for it?

Re: Hemp Protein

I've just checked myprotein.co.uk and the info on there gives values for 30g, which breaks down as 14g protein, 9g carbs and 8g of dietary fibre (plus 2.5g fats, 0.2g Omega-3, 1.4g Omega-6 and 0.4g Omega-9). Yours I guess is going to be pretty similar so you could stick with a normal 30g scoop, but remember you're getting carbs, fats and fibre too.

Just as a side note our Hemp Protein is finally coming back into stock hopefully this week.

Thanks

Wow, this profile almost looks like a meal replacement for the low carb dieter.
I mean 8 grams of fat will seriously slow digestion, so will the Omega's, both of those are used in dieting.
You would get your protein, carbs, and good fats along with fiber.

I take it this might not be the best for PWO meal?

I would be leary though of the amino acid profile from vegetable proteins, that and I would also suspect some phytoestrogens, but that would just be a guess.

Strange I never even heard of this stuff.
I will do a search on this but does anyone have any good articles on this?

Re: Hemp Protein

Holland & Barret do Hemp Protein and they have a sale at the moment, never tried it myself tho.

Whey protein is said to cause allergic reactions to milk by not digesting well for some people, and something about poor digestion of it leading to toxic reaction in the gut, leaking gut etc. I don't think there is any hard evidence of it and digestive enzymes would sort the problem out.

Re: Hemp Protein

I think probiotics fix or help leaky gut, that and the digestive enzymes should fix this problem.

I found the same thing, it tastes awful. I hate throwing stuff out, especially anything you can eat, but I don't know if I can stomach any more of it.

It is one of those tastes you either love or hate (marmite anyone?) as it has a real "natural" taste don't expect a sweet McD's milkshake for example.

From a nutritional point of view (its what we use supplements for no?) it contains all of the Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) at a ratio closer to 'complete' sources of protein such as meat, milk and eggs. It is also packed with live enzymes, Essential Fatty Acids (Omega 3, Omega 6 and GLA!), vitamins, minerals and other co-factors to aid absorption. Quite an impressive "CV", but yes like all good things in life it doesn't taste like a sugar packed milkshake.

If taste is a major issue try it in a morning blend with fresh fruit, Spirullina, Whey and ultra fine oats for a superb breakfast smoothie which tastes great and is packed full of superb nutrients.

Read some more hemp protein reviews fpr a balanced view (some good some bad).

Thanks

I have heard that about Casien, but not whey, I myself can not digest cows milk casien well, so do not drink it, goats milk is fine for me though.

If you really have hemp protien then you have a new customer!

Hemp is pound for pound one of the most useful plants on the planet. The seeds have huge amounts of protien. I'll have to try to find some old notes I have on hemp protien.
