Sunbeds

Can anyone give me a few pointers on sunbeds please?

I'm fair skinned so I burn easily, but I do tan if done correctly.

My gym has a stand up sunbed that takes £1 coins for a few minutes.

Any general advice? In particular - what do you apply when using sunbeds in terms of creams etc?

Thanks

Re: Sunbeds

I would start off on 6 mins 3 times a week then maybe go up to 9 mins after a few weeks if you aren't getting burn't...

As for creams, I have never used any but i know some put special UV protectant cream on their lips (the ones on their face btw)....

You may want to look into melanotan....I'm pretty fair skinner myself and the stuff works wonders...

Re: Sunbeds

Thanks mate. I know nowt about them, so excuse the daft questions, but are they safe as opposed to the sun, or what? i.e. is this why no protection creams are used?

Melanotan sounds ideal - I have looked it up but there's absolutely no chance of me doing any sub-q injections I'm afraid! Apart from feeling like a skag head, my skin scars if coughed upon (almost literally). It's a shame no effective tablets are available yet.

Re: Sunbeds

Some people do use creams but it isnt as essential in tanning booths due to the exposure time. Make sure you start off with short exposure times and work your way up.

Re: Sunbeds

im the same as you mate... im fairly fair (that dont sound right lol) but im getting a bit of colour through the sunbeds now..

its all dependent on strength as to how long you want to go on for but as an indication - mine has 100watt tubes and i started at 5 mins and built up from there.. spent a week at 5, then up to 6 and so on... actually have a bit of colour to me now

Re: Sunbeds

I think a good sun cream is recommended as sunbeds are not the safest things to use. Look into it as you dont want to end up like the antuy out of "Something about mary".

I go really dark after being in the sun for a month. Been wanting to try melotonin to see how dark I will go! In winter I pretty much match the clouds above and milky white.

Re: Sunbeds

MT2 does not come as an oral, the pharma company which own the rights to it (Epitan), who are trying for FDA approval can not make it oral, which limits their market and profits, so no one will have it as an oral, it is a peptide and therefore has to be injected or implanted or the stomach digests it.
