Bump on my wrist.

Three days ago I fist noticed this little bump on my radius just below thumb. The bump at first seemed to a part of the bone, but today I noticed a slight increase in size and it feels a little softer. It does have a slight pain today when you tap or press on it.

From the research I've been doing I'm thinking it may be a Ganglion Cyst. I haven't been able to find too much besides the ganglion theory. I know it's something I need to get seen by a doctor to rule out the tumor being melignant.

I had a serious bout with carpal tunnel this past two weeks. Also, the day I stopped having my carpal tunnel pains is the day I noticed the growth. Don't think carpal tunnel has anything to do with this, but I figure if I was talking to a doctor I would tell him that information.

Any of you have or know of anything like this?

Re: Bump on my wrist.

Does sound like a Ganglion mate.I had one in the same place a few years back,i remember it being painful and irritating however it did eventually disappear of its own accord with no damage done. Its obviously worrying you so see your GP if you want peace of mind.

Its a ganglion as Para said, hit it with something hard and it will disperse!

You've got to be kidding me. I've heard of people smashing them with a book to do this. I have major issues with this. First and formost I'm not a doctor to be able to diagnose this as a ganglion in the first place. Second, A doctor wouldn't smash it he'd use a needle to drain the growth.

Before I go breaking my wrist that was already broken before I'd rather drain it myself with a needle. I'll do a gren valentino surgery.

Re: Bump on my wrist.

Or you could try a really radical approach & go to see your doctor. It's a bit off the wall admittedly, but maybe better than performing amateur surgery on yourself.

Re: Bump on my wrist.

Sport Dr, I wasn't referring to the book smashing method as amateur surgery, just the stick a needle in it approach. It is actually well proven that a good wallop will work on a ganglyon cyst.

Maybe like 90% of the population he is needle phobic, but hell yeh get a needle in that sucka, my way involved less risk of infection but depending on book size (dont choose war & peace) and force behind the book, a wrist fracture might result. I recommend repeated smashing with increasing intensity until said ganglion bursts, or your wrist breaks at which time for goodness sake stop

Re: Bump on my wrist.

I'm not going to perform surgery on myself. That was a joke.

The only thing about the doctor is that this is the US and we don't have a public health system. I don't have insurance since my employer doesn't provide it nor provides a big enough pay check to pay for insurance. I can go to an emergency room without insurance but I haven't found a GP that sees people in my circumstance.

That's the sad thing with this country. Sht health care for everyone(great if you have the resources) and sht education. According to FOX news having health care for everyone provided by the government is Communist.

Re: Bump on my wrist.

It certainly does suck that you have to pay fortunes for health cover. Purely out of interest, what do most regular over there people pay on average for the premium if they do have health insurance? I've heard it can be extortionate.
