acetic acid = white vinegar?

Could anyone help me out here i'm trying to find some acetic acid to reconstitute my igf and i can't find anywhere to get it from. So i thought to look for some white vinegar and have been around all the supermarkets and can only find white distilled vinegar, the clear stuff, is that stuff the same as white vinegar then ? even though it clearly says distilled malt vinegar and not distilled white vinegar?

You can get acetic acid from most kosher stores.
