Re: Bulkaholic's progress journal

Thought i had better update. Legs day today and totally wacked now. The kidney area pain has long gone now and i had a total flush of system for a couple days so back on proper diet tomorrow.

For legs did the following:

Squats, 5x5x110kg then drop to 80 and push out as many as possible.

Leg extensions were done at 67.5kg until failure each time. minimum 12 reps.

Lying leg curls for hams as stomach cramped up on sldl. 45kg x 10 x 3

The calfs. Well i looked at a link yesterday with flex lewis doing hybrid training and thought as my legs seem to like high volume I would give it a go.

Did 3 sets of the following:

standing calf raises 12 x 90kg them switch over to toes in for 5 then toes out for 5. Siperset this with fast standing raises with body weight. Well my calfs seriously felt it

Enjoying the training again now and can't wait for gym so i think recovery is going well. Also weighed in today and have lost 1kg which isn't bad at this stage as i think most is water.

Cheers

Colin

Re: Bulkaholic's progress journal

Yeah the thought of competing next year has really driven me on now. Legs which were a real weak point are not my main concern now(although don't wanna be on stage with weak legs)

Main concern now is getting chest up to scratch. I have a lot of fat sitting on chest (almost pseudo gyno proportions of fat) which runs under the arm also. So it's difficult to see whats devloping under there along with upper chest being weak.

I am having quite a down day anyway so look in mirror and see fat, no muscle etc but chest is definately looking pretty bad at moment. This will be cured I hope when i start diet in 2 weeks time. This will be a mini comp diet to get a feel for how my body responds and also to remove layers of fat to see whats underneath along with hoping to look good for missus on holiday. It won't hurt priming me for last growth phase also before proper comp cut(scary thought)

Will try and neck some cranberry juice but that stuff is wrank! like drinking vinegar.

Cheers

Colin

Re: Bulkaholic's progress journal

Looking at competing 1st timers at NABBA as advised by Pscarb.

I am not really aiming for a set weight at present as just want to gain some more mass and a more finished product like chest etc.

I think my stage weight should be around the 80kg mark providing i loose very little muscle on cut. Shouldnt loose too much using the carb cycling though.

I have worked that out randomly mind so we will see I worked on 100kg (I am 102 at moment) then take away 15% BF (which would put me at 5%) this takes me to 85kg. Then the water loss etc so i was thinking around 80kg.

I suppose it will depend on how I gain on my last bulk and whether i do this assisted

Cheers

Colin

Re: Bulkaholic's progress journal

My legs are still aching from the pounding i gave them the weekend! so it is pull day today and it went quite well.

Deadlift:

2 x WU sets
3 x 5 x 100kg
1 x 5 x 140kg

Felt a bit dodgy at that weight. I could lift it ok but form was shocking so gonna drop back alittle next week until form improves.

Lat pulldown:

3 x 8 x 90kg

Seated row: (plate loading)

around 40kg a side i think but weights unmarked

2 x 8

Sgrugs (done on calf raise)

3 x 12 x 50kg with nice pause at top

I have attached a bit of crap shot of lat spread from behind as i think it shows my back is still outgrowing the rest.

I have also removed all chest and back hair now (or should i say missus did it) she wanted to use tweezers (slowly) but i made her use veet and a razor lol.

I am pleased that my upper chest is showing some signs of growth now around clavicle and chest also has a faint line right through middle now(have to look close mind and in the right light)

busy planning my next bulk phase now which will begin in august after pre holiday diet to begin in 1.5 weeks.

thats all folks

Re: Bulkaholic's progress journal

Just thought i would post up my diet for the day. It's not great ad isn't heavy on protein as trying to cycle that now:

Meal 1 7-30

3 weetabix and 60g usn igf-1 protein powder with milk (**** name i know)

Meal 2 10-00

2 slices wholemeal bread with butter
1 pear
handful of grapes

Meal 3 12-30

1 cheese and ham tortilla wrap
1 pot of granola and bio yoghurt

meal 4 15-00

Peak body pro 50 protein bar
Apple

Meal 5 17-15

230g chicken
130g rice (wholemeal tonight)

Meal 6 20-00

pwo shake

Meal 7 60g usn igf-1 protein in milk with peanut for fats.

Well thats how today should look. Tomorrow will be higher protein and fats with lower carbs (I hope but travelling to a meeting tomorrow)

Feel free to pass comment on it

Cheers

Colin

Re: Bulkaholic's progress journal

cheers mate, thanks for the comments. To be honest a lot of it is down to getting the pose right. The picture before that one on my camera my back looked small. next time round i sat back into pose to really flare those lats.

Sounds daft the one thing i was pleased with in the pic was that some vascularity is showing in forearms at last ( a sign of leaning out a bit)

Cheers

Colin
