Me just starting out, any help appriciated!

As per this thread.

I've decided enough is enough and i've had it with looking the way i am, i've always wanted to do body building for the last 2 years and nows the time to get off my **** and do i'm ready to change everything diet, lifestyle whatever it takes to get results.

This is how i look at present. I don't really know what the best way to start is i don't really have many diet plans or exercise plans and was wondering if anybody with taking into consideration how i am at present could write me up a rough diet and exercise plan?

Any comments suggestions anything good or bad appriciated.
(Don't be too mean though! please...)

Good base to start with mate.

Looks like some compound exercises should be your best friend for now;)

Thanks fozy mate! Sorry the "real" beard is here to stay!
You got a great base Adam in my opinion. Been a few new members join your 16 arn't you?
chrisj22 has a great point. I wont lie I was recommended to do compound exercises at first but I did not, I was doing to much for starting,
TH&S has a good post somewhere about it ( rep him though he is a rep slag ) but my routine which MagicTorch recommended is
Quote:
Push Day:

Bench Press
Standing over head press (or clean and pres)
Narrow grip bench press

Pull Day

Deadlifts
Lat pull down (pull ups if you can)
Bent over rows
Barbell curls

Legs

Squats
Lunges
stiff legged deadlifts
Calf raises
To be honest it fits in perfect with what I do, and its only 3 days a week so you have plenty of time to rest and recover.
I follow this and in 6 weeks have gained more and progressed more than the 12 weeks on my previous routine.

I don't think your bodyfat is all that bad IMO, If you keep the diet clean and stick to it, you can easily improve upon where you are now, no shame mate at all.

Its best to be honest and see what you have to work with.

You now need to concentrate on getting stronger.

Whats your goals and when do you plan on training? eg; how many times per week?

Re: Me just starting out, any help appriciated!

Thanks again for all your useful comments!

Yeti thanks for that I think i'll make a start on that for now unless anyone thinks a different way?

I don't really mind how many days i spend doing training and my main goals are to gain some shape and hopefully some strength.

Haha thats at my gf's house she keeps seahorses i'm not usually doing weights at hers but yeh she's always nagging to watch the tank lol.

So i'm still a little confused on two things ... A diet what type of things should I be using for cutting? and also do I do cardio with that training program? and if so how much and when?

Thanks

Re: Me just starting out, any help appriciated!

YetiMans workout will build you some big muscle and make you very strong. As you learn more you may change your routine in the future. You look like you have a great base for building a lot of muscle. Train hard and eat big (not Mcdonalds though). Its worth doing Some cardio to keep yourself fit, but don't overdo it if you are trying to gain muscle. I recomend 30 mins, 3 times a week but thats just my opinion. Do your weights first. Don't worry about a cutting diet its not really relevent to you at the moment.

Train hard, eat big, and you will be amazed by the results you see over the first few months.

I also like Yetimans routine, it might not seem like much, but if your really pushing yourself it will be a killer, lots of rest and time to grow.

Third that. If I could recover, I would deffo do a push/pull/legs split.

I'll stick to my full body workouts twice a week for now though

It's all about steady progression
