My first post - What would you recomend?

My brother joined UK-Muscle couple of weeks ago and recomended it to me, so I thought I would pop over and have a look.

I only started training a couple of months ago and am in very poor shape. At the beginning of July I decided it was time to clean up my diet and start training.

I have manager to drop about 20lbs the first 8 weeks, but the past 2 weeks the weight will no longer shift.

My aim is to try and bulk up and be as big as I can possibly be, but wanted to shift some fat beforehand so that I dont end up looking like a member of fatcamp again.

Looking at the most recent pic below, how would you recomend I aproach things. Should I keep cutting for now then bulk or would I be better of bulking now and worry about cutting later.

Heres some pics-

4 july (about 13stone 5'7")

Last night (just over 11stone now, still 5'7" )

Re: My first post - What would you recomend?

welcome to the board mate.
you can see that you have made some fantastic progress to date.

I would now modify your diet to high protein moderate carbs and fats this will help you clean bulk.

Re: My first post - What would you recomend?

and not a single word about his question...

You have done well so far at 2lbs a week loss of weight, its natural for things to slow down. All this bulk/cut bollocks p!sses me off, so much disinformation out there and varying opinion from a lot of idiots.

My advice is to get rid of the unwanted weight. You will never see your gains under a sheet of blub.
Then start clean and lean. You will see it much better and you will look better.

Re: My first post - What would you recomend?

i think when i suggested he modify his diet to a high protein ,moderate carbs and fat diet i did???

there is no point trying to get rid of all the fat you have mainly because you just wont do it and lose focus.

start to gain muscle by modifying the diet and training more with weights the new larger muscles will have a positive impact on your metabolism....

Spot on. And dont forget that muscle carries on burning fat after exercising too.

You have done really well - a definite difference....keep it up :lift:

I never said to get rid of all the fat, as you said it will be too hard. Get to a decent level is what i meant.

Re: My first post - What would you recomend?

Thanks for the replys!

At the moment my carbs/protien & fats a quite low, so I will add a little more carbs in the hope that I will be able to lift a bit more weight, because at the moment my energy is somewhere between low to nil.

As for protien - What sort of protein intake should someone of my weight be aiming to cosume per day for bulking?

Thanks again, you have been more than helpfull

I dont agree... I was a flabby blubba.. and no matter how much experience people have... you will get a million different opinions mate.. lose that ugly fat! You will still see lean muscle under there without worrying about going for more mass... you have a good size under that coat of fat already! You will feel a whole lot better about yourself than having that fat hanging over your trousers! Gaining a vast amount of muscle mass to help speed up yur metabalism will not give you sudden fat loss anything like a lower calories intake... and upping your cardio! I did this myself... and feel a whole lot better than being fat!

Good luck and great progress for far! keep it up
