In need of Diet advice

Hi people,

Im looking to rip down from 20% bodyfat. I work on a ship so its difficult to get a good diet on the go but im trying my best. I train 5-6 times a week, usually stagering my heavy weight sessions every other day with a little cardio and my cardio days are the days in between if that makes sense.

Below was yesterday, a typical day

0700 - 25 minute run
0800 - muesli with bananna - cup of green tea
1000 - cup of green tea
1200 - tin tuna with green leave salad and a little boiled egg with mayo
1500 - cup green tea
1700 - half hour on bike in gym
1800 - beef and broccoli stir fry with approx 3 tbsp of white rice boiled
2000 - protein shake
2230 - bed

I have a pretty active day at work, so i need to feel awake which sometimes is hard when im cutting as I feel knackered then end up stolling off the path. Like I said my meals get made for me so its hard to pick and choose but im trying to live off of tins of tuna and green leaves when I can.
I have some protein powders on order, one with carbs for the morning and one without for after my session at night.

Any thoughts, advice or critisism is much appreciated.

Cheers

Re: In need of Diet advice

Diet doesn't look too bad tbh, without knowing your stats I can't be sure if the amount are right, but you're definitely on the right track, as for being active at work during the day, have you thought about timing your carbs so you have them only in the morning, and so you would have energy for the day, but wouldn't be taking in carbs in the afternoon/evening? I understand that you don't have total control over what you eat, but could you not ask for your evening meal to have little or no carbs and more of the protein based parts of the meal?

Re: In need of Diet advice

Hi leonface, thanks for your response, im 183cm tall, 89kg, about 20% bf according to my gym at home and im 25 years old.
I was going for that kind of routine although I slipped a bit with a little rice lastnight. Im trying to only really eat meat or fish at night, well anytime after breakfast tbh. As long as I dont run out of tuna I will be living off of that at lunchtimes I think.
Im trying to get up in the mornings and do fasted cardio most mornings but if im honest i prob only manage 3-4 times a week. I struggle to pull my self out of bed.
I use milk in my shakes because I dont like them made with water but im thinking I would be better just bearing with the taste and using the good old H2O and ditching the milk, what you think?

Water with your shakes would be better for your weight loss goals, fasted cardio 3 times a week would be a good start, it's up to you how dedicated you want to be.

Re: In need of Diet advice

You wanna try and get some more protein in there mate, especially in after run in the morning! Maybe eggs if they're available? Same with mid-afternoon, 6 hours is a bit of a long time to go between protein.

Re: In need of Diet advice

just read hakssi's sticky on times carbs might give that a bash and keep the milk in for the fat value.
Im waiting on my protein arriving, when I get it i'll fire that in my belly in the morning post cardio and one in the afternoon if i cant get a good food source of protein.
The timed carb diet looks like a challenge to follow but worth it in the end
