Losing weight but not the gut

Hi
Over the last 6 weeks Iv been trying to lose weight, well the belly really as it sticks out far to much for my liking.
I did weigh 100kg Im now 96kg Iv cut my calories to 2000 a day do cardio 4-5 times E/W 30-45 min each session,
The problem is my belly wont shift, Iv only lost an inch from my waist, if I relax and push my belly out its 40.5" :boohoo: and if I contract my ABs its 38" :boohoo: at the belly button, my accue measure fat callipers say Im 13-14mm (about 16% B/F)

An inch loss isn't too bad. Remember that often it comes off the gut last. It just takes time.

do you look better in the mirror? seperation around delts? forearms tighter?

cos exactly what the others say, the belly fat is the most stubborn on all but the most gifted.

Your calories are pretty low my friend, especially as you are doing regular cardio. You

cannot spot reduce fat so stick at it and it will come off....

I've lost about 22lbs since new year, only lost about 2.5 inches from my waist, and that's only come off in the last 4 weeks or so, so stick at it.

it sounds like your organs have shifted down
(i would) practice inversion therapy and stomach vacuums plus the diet changes

another cause could be smooth muscle growth in the intestines (quite common with pro bodybuilders (even some ametuers lets call them GUT people) using insulin and diabetics type 2) to eliminate that reduce carbs in the diet to below 30% but not below 20%

just thoughts
IMO only

Cheers guys, Im not alone in this then
I know Im losing muscle as well as fat with the low Cals but I really hate the feel of fat so Im prepared to sacrifice the muscle for now and build it back with a cleaner diet than before.

ChefX: Organs shifted down, this could be part of the problem I think, would age have a bearing on this, 41 next month.

yeah old man age can be a factor. LOL

by the way there is no need to ever loose muscle while loosing fat. Slow down the process to about 1 lb a week. Try to get your macronutrient ratios closer to equal and keep your daily calorie amounts consistent. that way you can adjust them weekly to get what you need.

cheers

i had the same problem, finally got some more improvment by doing my cardio at between 65% and 75% my max heat rate. calc you max heart rate (220-your age * 70%=wat you should do cardio at for optimum fat burning)

Control insulin and you will have the dieting problem solved.
Lower the carbs and up the fats and protein.
Sounds crazy but it does work.
Apple pectin and fish oils will upregulate the insulin receptors too.

This is such a common problem, you have know idea how many people suffer from this (most)

I have this same problem.
