Go to the gym whenever is most convenient to you.

As for eating, I like a meal about an hour before the gym, then a large whey and dextrose shake immediately post-workout. I eat a proper meal again about an hour or two later.

Some people like lifting on an empty stomach, and others like to stuff their face before lifting, and continue eating during lifting. I'm somewhere inbetween the two personally. You have to find out what works best for you.

It's ALWAYS a good idea to have good nutrition after working out though.

I dont like to be full at all at the gym so I only have like lets say an apple about an hour before or a small porton of food like cottage cheese about an hour before.

After I eat.

a lot of people say that when you finish training, immediatly eat maybe 80g protein. The body craves for protein after workout, and by eating this amount you are ensuring that demand is fulfilled.
maybe an hour later have a full meal.

astro_warp has a spectacular aura aboutastro_warp has a spectacular aura about
Before: Depends on how long you train for. >1hr = eat 2 - 3 hours before. <1hr = no

After: Definitely. 30-60 minutes after you train your body is able to make most use of the carbs you feed it for Glycogen resynthesis, so an immediate intake of carbs is crucial. Personally straight after training I drink Yop and Eat a banana. About 1 hour later I'll drink 50grams colostrom and about 1 hour after some Pasta (slightly undercooked).

Of course, each to their own - I'm not training for bulk, so intake amounts maybe more for some, but the basic idea is that you need to eat carbs asap after training....
