total cals

just remember that.....
carbs 4cal/gram
protein 4cal/gram
fat 8-9cal/gram

40/40/30 of p/c/f is a good bench mark to look at. cos if you go30/30/30 then your robbing yourself of 10% lol

its percentage by calories
and that would be 33/33/33 to be centered/ can't you guys do math?

and don't forget (this is the big part everyone forgets), plant proteins are counted as carbs (thats how the body responds insulin wise) and carbs by fiber are counted by half (as only half of the calories ever go in hence celery and pickles being awesome snack foods)

LOL

Ok?

now thats pinickity. and if i am, then il have to say biker that itll be a recurring decimal.

chef, how come plant proteins are counted as carbs?? as a snack i used to drain a can of baked beans off and munch on them cos its got 20g protein. in that way does the body recognise them as carbs? or just the fact that
it "also" releases the equvilant insulin spike?

in that vain then, how are plant proteins rated on a GI scale? cos they are harder to break down are they considered to be incredibly low GI?

thanks Chef!!! lol, sorry for being awkward!!

we (I) count plant proteins as carbs aka only fuel as they are so incomplete and never quite broken down enough that the body in most cases just converts them through glucogenisis to sugars or stress the crapola out of the liver, and then burns or stores them, plant proteins actually stress the liver (and raise insulin slightly in the process like a diabetics sugar oes up when he is ill or injured. (not all do this, but most, and in some categories, hence I suggest getting some carbs from starches rather than all your carbs from fiberous plants which have plant protein in them)

follow?

This is why moderation, and full meal combining works best in almost all cases.
I love the studies being done right now on athletic protein consumption, it turns out when you use a combination of proteins aka a variety of meats & dairies you need up to half as much protein to get the optimal results. This kills the You need over 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight MYTH. Let the body tell you what you need in calories, we are past the exact g per body stuff now and have moved scince on into ratios and exact food combinations. aka stopping the guessing.

ChefX, I have a question for ya. I hear that beans and rice make up a complete protein. But how can two carbs make up a protein? Must be some free form amino acid thing?
