| UK-Muscle Moderator | mate hats a hard question to answer imo... if i was dieting i'd still try and keep my weights workout heavy but probably cut down the volume abit as u'll get well tired from all that cardio, lack of carbs, and liftin so u dont wanna overtrain, i'd still train 4 times a week with weights and do cardio 3 times a week on my off days. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Im diffrent than most with this area but it is my belief that when reducing calories it is easier to overtrain. I dont think lifting heavy would be good for the following reasons. It is easy to overtrain. Body can go catabolic and overtraining will only aid in this. Gives the body a break from heavy training while bulking. Keep your protein intake at about 150 grams a day to have positive nitrogen ballance or so you dont have negative nitrogen ballance and lose some of your lean muscle mass. You have to lift weight while dieting as you will lose lean muscle mass if you dont. I think more reps and less cardio is ok. Or add cardio after your workout. Dont drop too many of your cals during dieting or your metabolism can slow down from 15% to 35% from really restricted calories. Try and keep this to like 500 cals a day (below maintenance). Either using diet or cardio but dont drop below 500 cals burned or dieted. So my final answer is light to medium. You can lift heavy after your diet or when you get to the bodyweight you want. I think if you don't keep it heavy while cutting, you risk losing strength and mass all too easily. At least that's what I find for me. So based on the fact that you've had 3 completely different responses, it probably means that everyone's different and you need to experiment to figure out what's best for you. |
