Help

Hi Guy's

Im new to this site and in need of a little help.

Im looking at loosing weight and im doing the weight watchers diet to aid me in this, with the diet im also doing work outs in the gym, but im only loosing on average a pound a week.

I think the reason im only loosing a pound is cos im not eating that much, which is cos i feel full.

Does anyone have any tips to aid better weight loss i.e. average 2-3 pounds loss a week?

Not sure what info you need to help but any would be good

Re: Help

Start off by posting your height, weight, bf% if you know it, or a picture to give people a good idea. Then what you eat and if you know the macronutrients. For example, 6am what you have for breakfast, when and what you have next etc through a whole day.

How often do you go to the gym, what do you do when there and so on.

How long have you been doing what you do now?

Re: Help

Welcome mate

what are your stats and gender?

I suggest not trying to loose 3lbs per week as if you have been dieting much of the water is off you

3lbs per week = 10'000 calorie defict or there abouts per week which is too much, too hard and too fast

How much muscle do you hold?

Re: Help

A pound a week is a good weight loss.

If you want to lose more fat, then do more cardio. You have to create a 1000 kcal deficit/day and doing it with a combo of a moderate calorie deficit and cardio is the best way.

Weight watchers is a good basic simple diet, I know it encourages a healthier diet, but as all of my office ladies and phebotomists are ALWAYS on freaking weight watchers or slim fast etc, I know quite a bit about it.

It is ironic watching them discussing the number of points in a cake or biscuit when the majority of them have backsides as big as a bus.

I am not keen on any of these diets as you don't learn how to feed yourself properly, so what are you going to do when you stop using slimfast?

You can't stay on slim fast for life.

I do think it would work better if you had the 600 kcals for breakfast and then replaced your meals later in the day.

There is no easy way to cut fat.

I would also suggest you get a copy of Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, or Stuart McRoberts, Build Muscle, Lose Fat, Look Great.

I think you may have to be a bit de-programmed about what you think is the best way to lose weight, what numbers on the scales mean.

How long did it take you to become overweight?

Did it happen quickly or over a few years?

Re: Help

I don't know much about losing weight, but I would say don't rely too much on the what the scales say. when you noticed you were overweight then I imagine it was from how you see yourself in the mirror, ie: size and shape. With regular training muscle will become stronger which weighs more than fat, so I wouldn't think that scales would be a totaly accurate guide to base your progress on.
Other members on here (with a lot more knowledge than myself) have advised that the mirror is a better guide than the scales.

(Hope this makes sense).

To add to tayanas bit RE weigh****chers

the watch the number of calories you consume but the quality of the calories you can consume following their suggestions are shat.
Lowered calories means a reduction in fat very often an in its place processed sugary shat which influences body comp in a negative manner. Also rammed with sweeteners very often

Pure class! I would rep you but I've repped you so many times for similar bouts of wit.... I wouldn't want you to think I was looking for some bum fun.

Don't see dieting and training as pain and reward...see it as reward all round
Endorphins when you train and endoprhins as a result. The odd treat is fine but these are crap foods at tw at witchers.

Re: Help

I would also recommend Burn the fat, feed the muscle - it worked great for me. I consider going to the gym to be a treat not a punishment. Time spent on myself is always a treat I appreciate. I don't think Slimfast is the answer.
