![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi guys. Right Pscarb posted a huge thread aout timed carb dieting and his own routine plans. now this was a seriously fantastic read and all the information he seems to post opens my eyes to a new way of training or dieting. I am trying a timed carb diet from next monday onwards and have read everything about it now. BUT struck for meals.... I cant just eat chicken or meat on its own for lunch or evening. My missus is doing it with me and she just wouldnt do that cause its to boring and need at least something sat with it...... Whats the ideas? What meals would work really well? what can you accompany the meats with? Thanks all |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Zero to Low carb meals? Help appreciated after reading Pscarbs information i use some sort of rub on the meat (try turkey, i cant stand chicken now!). piri piri or bbq rub etc. there are loads in tesco, or you can make your own with different herbs and spices. also loads of veg. dont think you need to count these as carbs on a timed carbs approach. i normally use frozen peas and sweetcorn. a small amount of omega 3 mayo shouldnt hurt either. if you are allowed the extra carbs add some brown pasta and mix it all up. the trick is to change the spices and rubs daily (try mixes of each etc etc) you shouldnt get bored that way. |

Broccoli peas, sweat corn etc is all fine. I think its going to be harder than i expect eating just a portion of meat with a little something with it like that and not having any form of potatoe on the plate for example or brown rice. I can see my self getting very hungry during this and not being able to snack on bananas etc! |

Help appreciated after reading Pscarbs information To be honest mate, you and your missus need to decide if you have the dedication required to follow a plan like this through. You have to change your realtionship with food. Forget about what tastes nice and what you like to eat. Just eat for the required nutritional content. I found this the only way to look at food while dieting. You will be supprised at some of the wierd combos you can then start eating. Dont be supprised if your missus only can hack about a week or 2. Most women dont have the willpower to follow such a strict program (and I talk from personal experience). As far a snacking goes, try nuts, high in protien and fat and they will really fill you up. |

| Mature Bodybuilder | Re: Zero to Low carb meals? Help appreciated after reading Pscarbs information When cutting carbs (like now!) I stock up on tons of veggies, lots of different salad ingredients and herbs. I never cut complex carbs too low- still have baked sweet potatoes and yams in my post workout meal with tons of protein. I also have raw veg, carrots, celery, peppers etc with protein for snacks. Just a bit of variety. Have just had to cut back on the amount of protein daily though, although my bodyfat level remained stable I manage to start putting muscle on. Why did I find that so difficult when I wanted to build muscle, but now do it out of the blue when I am trying to cut fat levels on a precontest diet?????? How annoying can it get?? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Zero to Low carb meals? Help appreciated after reading Pscarbs information omlettes are a good replacement. Also a fry up, eggs, sausage, mushrooms (ish) bacon. For lunch at work I currently having 2 chicken breasts with skin and some brocolli and dip them into hummus, finger food style. Not GREAT for fatts but still good. |

![]() | Re: Zero to Low carb meals? Help appreciated after reading Pscarbs information I read the same article by Pscarb about 5 months ago, and like you, decided to sort my diet out big time. As already mentioned, the first few weeks are the hardest - saying goodbye to eating loads of pasta or rice for "dinner" was the worst bit. To reiterate what the others have said, spices are the way forward..no excuses for becoming bored when theres a million and one different flavours in any supermarket! Eat plenty of veg to fill the gap, I roast butternut squash, peppers, onions, carrot etc and then pour extra virgin olive oil over the lot when its cooked to get the fats in. Final bit of advice for following pscarbs cutting plan - forget the concept of "breakfast, lunch, dinner" etc and replace them with "meals 1 - 6". Then use these 6 times of the day to strictly stick to your plan, in the same way you would if you were taking prescribed medications!! I even set an alarm in my phone to remind me for the first few weeks, after which time it becomes habit. Worth the effort; I've dropped from 15% to 11% in just 3 months, after 2 years of consistent failure. Good luck |

From what i can see then its time to spend a couple hours in my local supermarket and check out all the different spices and al rubs that you can buy to make the food a little more interestig to taste. Lots of meat every time covered in different rubs and with some peppers and bits and bobs... o.k well i think i getting there on a planner. |
