Exercies machines and calories burned during workout

As we know most machines thesedays have the option to see calories burned during workout.

I usually use the 'quick start' option on the machines as I can't be bothered typing in age, weight etc....so what I want to know is...as the machine doesn't know my weight, is it showing calories burned and basing it on an average weight person (ie, 9 stone) using the machine and as I am currently 2 stone over that am I likely to be using more calories than what the machine is saying?

I have just read the post back and it seems like I am rambling, so I hope someone knows what I mean!

TIA

Re: Exercies machines and calories burned during workout

Completley ignore things like this.

The number of calories you burn is down to a massive amount of factors, diet, metabolism, medical conditions etc and as you allude to in your post cardio machines base their estimates on an 'average' weight (whatever that is).

I would advise that you spend more time worrying about the number and quality of the calories you consume rather than hazarding a very wayward guess as to how many you expend.
