My Recomp diet

Hello all,

I am looking at recomposing as fat is still a little too high. I am planning the following breakdown:

Protein = 250g/day
Carbs = 250g/day
Fat = 55g/day

This takes me to 2500Kcals a day so around maintenance then throw in 3 cardio sessions a week and i think that will do. What do you think?

I have never knowingly followed a recomp although the month of diet i followed recently was almost that but did loose a little size on arms so want to avoid that

Cheers,

Colin

Re: My Recomp diet

My comp isnt until next year NABBA west in April. The plan is purely to get down to a better maintenance levle of fat so I can monitor gains better and to make the comp diet less painful

I am unsure of current BF levels but i would say around 20%. I do have pics in my journal and going off how people describe 20% (little definition etc) I think 20% wont be far off.

I am just about to go into PCT from fairly gentle oral cycle so wont be doing recomp till that finishes (gained around 5-6kg on rebound from diet)

Cheers

Colin

Re: My Recomp diet

Depends on the actual foods you're using to get those macros dude...

On paper, the macros for a Dominos Texas BBQ pizza don't look too bad ;)

Assuming you're going to be using whole food choices, that doesn't look too bad. However, you mind find better (or at least quicker) results by cycling your carbs (or at least timing them appropriately).

Don't say Domino's I love those greasy slabs of loveliness

I will be using whole foods, lean meats wholemeal carbs etc. I will perhaps cycle them as this worked great for diet. Will try standard carb intake first then cycle if results not coming fast enough.

Cheers

Re: My Recomp diet

Why dont you try an actual diet mate for say 8 wks, clean up your diet and do cardio 2x a day 45 morning, and 45 at night. This way you will see how your body reacts, and you will also drop some fat. you'l be amazed at how well your boDy will react to the diet.

Its only 8 weeks, so it will fly in.

Only reason i didn't want to try diet was fear of not being big enough for show. Although if i dont try a diet i may not be in condition for show so it's chicken and egg! I think i would rather be in good condition on day and a few lbs lighter than poor condition and bigger though.

The feedback i have had so far is i have enough mass for a first timer really but not sure really. I think perhaps i need to find somebody at gym to give me an opinion and go from there.

I guess lean body mass is around 83kg so would probably come in around 78kg i would guess without adding any cycles into equation

Cheers

Go for it mate what you got to lose, apart from body fat, haha.

Yeah I think your right. I will run PCT then get stuck into diet. It wouldnt hurt anyway as off on hols in July so would be nice to look decent for the missus.

How mad do you go with cardio. I was thinking fasted cardio am which would be a brisk walk. Then pm after workout on treadmill uphill walking 6 days a week.

Do not hammer cardio mate, its as easy as 45min morn, and 45min after your weights session, nice low intensity, xtrainer, bike, treadmill with incline(walking brisk) not jogging, or running. The rest will be sorted out by a nice clean diet, and carb cycling if your going that route, have a look on here im sure there is loads on carb cycling.

You should do a small journal, as all the guys will give you tips along the way to helpyou out.

Re: My Recomp diet

Thanks for the help mate, I did start a cut a couple of months ago, then i went and watched a show and was instantly hooked. I then decided to aim for entering NABBA west next year so started a bulk again! Have gained a good 5-6kg so that went quite well for a 4 week bulk.

I was doing the carb cycling last time and it worked well so will try that again. Paul Scarborough was very helpful with diet and lots of support on log.

I have a progress journal running now (it's in my signature). People are gonna think I am mad (probably not far wrong) going back to cut again lol.

To be honest I will be happier dieting as the fat level is hiding too much and i cant see what needs work at present.

Cheers

Colin
