advice needed on losing weight and decent diet.

Hi guys, I have a friend who has previously tried to loose weight but due to his busy schedule finds it very hard to maintain his training, also main thing I believe tat lets him down is his eating.

His stats:

Height - 6'2"
Weight - 140kg
% BF - dont know but hes flabby, not obese just fat around the stomach and arms and chest.
Diet - I believe he eats 2-3 meals a day, evening one being nan's and curry at about 9pm. I have seen some sample diets that PSCarb has advised to some females, but if anyone can advice it would be grately appreciated. His aim is to loose weight primarily but I've also convinced him to include some weight training in there. The only thing he can do in the mornings is walking / joggin, ideally evening's are better suited.

A diet plan would be very welcome.

Many thanks

K

Re: advice needed on losing weight and decent diet.

sometimes the best diets are not even diets

what i mean by this is to simply balance ones metabolism

this is done by stablizing blood sugars by controling the bodies natrual insulin production

before he starts on a calorie defecit diet...try a clean aproach

without going into science too deeply, refined carbohydrates, sugary foods and hi glycemic index carbs will make the body secrete insulin due to high blood sugar (this is one of the important jobs for the pancreas to produce insulin in order to lower the blood sugar)

insulin is an anabolic hormone which means 'to promote weight gain'

so as well as store proteins, it makes is store glycogen and fat.

glycogen gives is a full, yet sometimes watery look

fat makes us look...well, fat!

so general junk food not only contains nasty salt (think water retetion) and sugar (insulin release) but also saturated/trans fats which are stored as fat and worse, raise cholesterol levels

gatting fat is only the first stage, this can lead over years to diabetes and sometimes heart desease

uk diets are very simmilar to amricans. the SAD diet (standard american diet) is full/dominant with these foods and can be a part of the jigsaw for our entire endocrine systems to mess up, eventually ending in death or desease

on top of this, these foods in time cause our systems to get very acidic....which cal lead to inflamation, fugus and parasite, yeast infection, heartburn/reflux, leaky gut, chronic fatigue, food intollerances, skin complaints...oh it goes on and on...........!

not to say that we should not eat these foods, just eat them as a treat

so what we eat, really should give us cause for concern

so, in esseence, get you mate to eat 6 days out of seven nice and clean

stick with 3 meals a day but cut all refined processed sugary and fatty foods

replace with lots of vegetables and fruit

find a great guide to clean eating here...

read on in the thread to tatyanas post about coloured veg....a very good post
