![]() | Junk food Today was a rare day for me, i had a pizza and some chocolote for the first time in months! im currently cutting, 40 mins cardio every morning and 20 mins after every workout. but today i thought why not, enjoy myself! just wondering how you guys handle junk food, do you stay well clear of it and stick to a strict diet or do you enjoy the odd bit of nice stuff? |

If your eating the same foods for months & stick to the same diet, your body is going to become accustomed to it & fat loss will stall. Having a cheat meal (or day for some people) really shocks the metabolism & confuses your body, thus causing it to work overtime & burn more fat. It's also a good way to keep you sane & stop you cheating knowing you have a cheat meal/day coming up :biggrin:

![]() ![]() | Re: Junk food cheat meals are kind of for calorie deficeint diets. If you starve you body of enough calories consistently it try and hold onto as much food as fat as possible. Cheat days stop your body going down this path. Theory I guess is sound but actual science I am yet to see. I think cheat days keep you sane more than anything and are a good reward for you weeks hard work! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Junk food cheat meals/cheat days can be effective on any type of restrictive diet mostly they are used best on carb cycling or low carb diets.... when you restrict calories your body gets used to this by lowering your metabolism by having a scheduled cheat you will shock the body into spiking the metabolism this stay high until the body realises you have gone back to your restrictive diet then the process goes full circle again, whilst the metabolism is raised on the non cheat day you will burn more fat than you did the days before the cheat.... the key to all this is timing of the cheat day when i first start a pre-comp diet i have a cheat day once every 10 days then once every 7 days then near the end once every 4 days....remember a cheat day can also be a high carb day this is just as effective but not as tasty ![]()
