My diet log...

Right,

I've been body building pretty hard for about 5 months now and have put on a fair bit of size for the first time in my life thanks to the excellent advice found on this board. And I now I what to cut down to a decent waist line.
I was doing reasonable well but Xmas hit and i've never really recovered.

It's not like i'm eating any junk food. It's all good stuff. I don't touch cakes/chocolate/sweets/etc... No sugar in coffee. You get the idea. I just like my food too much.

I'm 43, 6ft 5in and weighed myself this morning at 216lb.

I'm aiming to loose around 16lb to get me to my target weight of around 200lb and then I'll reassess my results/looks.

I also want to track my food intake here. I might even post some piccies of my progress but i'm don't look anywhere as beefy as most of you guys.

Here is a piccie of my - Oct '07 before I started weight training

Training
Mon - Full body workout
Tue - Cardio - 10 minute run (warm up) then 17 mins HIT on the rowing machine = 2 mins normal then 1 min flat out, repeat.
Wed - Cardio - same cardio routine as Tue
Thur - Full body workout
Frid - Cardio - same cardio routine as Tue

Food intake Log
Monday March 10 '08
Breakfast - Whey powder with skimmed milk and oats
Mid morning snack - Scrambled eggs and baked beans
Lunch - Whey powder with water. 1 egg and cucumber sandwich.
(I need to start working out how many cals there is in my foods)
Afternoon snack - Whey powder with water.
Evening Meal - Pasta with veggie meat balls
Supper - Whey drink with milk

Weight Log
Monday March 10 '08 - 216lb | Target 200lb | Delta 0Lb

Re: My diet log...

Food intake Log
Tues March 11 '08

Breakfast - 2 x Weetabix with whey protein drink poured on top
Mid morning snack - Scrambled eggs and baked beans
Lunch - Whey powder with water. Cheese and salad roll
Afternoon snack - Whey powder with water.
Evening Meal - Some home made pie my wife made with veggies
Supper - Whey drink with milk

Training Notes
Did 10 mins on the treadmill (approx 1.2 miles) as warm up followed by 17 minutes of
mad high intensity training on the rowing machine. Basically 2 mins of normal rowing
followed by 1 minute of flat out. Rinse and repeat until you've had enough. Jeez it's tough.

Dude - 200lbs at 6ft 5in? You're going to look tiny?

I'm 6ft 6in and 250lbs and still need to pack on some mass...

LOL. Yep. I know what you mean but:-

1. I've only been weight training for 5 months or so
2. I really want to get rid of my gut
3. I do intend to keep my diet in check after that and over the next couple of years put on as much muscle as possible.

250lb. You sound pretty big to me. Are you lean at that weight?

Sadly I'm not as big as I'd like to be.

I'm 14% BF (ish) top two abs show through after a few days low carbing.

Photos will let us provide better assistance

I'll try to post a recent one at the weekend. To be honest, I'm a bit uncomfortable doing that but it'll help you guys to determine my best course of action.

Re: My diet log...

Food intake Log
Wed March 12 '08
Breakfast - Whey powder with skimmed milk and oats
Mid morning snack - Scrambled eggs and baked beans
Lunch - Whey powder with water. 1 egg and cucumber sandwich.
Evening Meal - Pasta and veggies
Supper - Whey drink with milk

Training Notes
Did another 10 mins on the treadmill. Also did the last 1 minute as a 10mph blast.
Followed by 17 mins on the rowing machine doing HIIT. 2mins normal -> 1 minute blast, repeat.
Felt really tough today. Not sure if it's the lack of cals or the fact that i'm spending my evenings
painting the ceilings in our house. No, it's not an advanced cardio workout, we're just decorating
to sell our house... Ho hum...

General Notes
Starting to feel hungry between meals now. Almost got a bit shakey this afternoon.

Food intake Log
Thur March 13 '08
Breakfast - 2 x Weetabix with whey protein drink poured on top
Mid morning snack - Scrambled eggs and baked beans
Lunch - Whey powder with water. 1 Cheese and pickle sandwich.
Afternoon snack - Whey powder with water. 1 banana.
Evening Meal - Pie and oven chips (I know, we were in a rush...)
Supper - Cottage cheese & Pineapple - 300gm

General Notes
Had to fight quite hard last night so not to cheat and have some snacks or a beer
but managed to stay the course. I actually feel that I'm started to lose some wieght
so something must be working. I'm planning to take a couple of long walks at the
weekend with my dog to get into the fat burning zone. We'll see what the weathers like.

Update: Starting to feel quite hungry these days...

Training Notes
As a change of pace. Did 4 miles on the treadmill.

I really need to work that out but I'm hoping that the HIIT + weight training will allow me to keep as much lean muscle tissue as possible whilst dropping fat quickly.
I really don't want to spend months doing this...

Food intake Log
Fri March 14 '08
Breakfast - Whey powder with water, oats and a spoonful of peanut butter to provide the fats.
Mid morning snack - Scrambled eggs and baked beans
Lunch - 1 egg and cucumber sarnie. 1 apple.
PWO - 1 whey protein drink with water.
Afternoon snack - Banana (but just 10 mins ago I had my whey protein shake)
Evening Meal - Pasta with tofu and veggies. Very nice.
Supper - Pineapple cottage cheese

General Notes
Was a bit grumpy last night due to lack of food and went to be bed early in a big cream puff.
I needed the rest anyway.

Tonights going to be a bit weird with no beer or snacks. I guess it's the price I have to pay.

Training Notes
Did a full body workout today which is my first after starting this regime. I thought I'd drop off
some performance but apart from a lack of energy. I actually made a few gains here and there.

I also did a 1 mile fun run for comic relief around my work. It felt surprisingly tough after doing
squats in the gym.
