Re: Alcohol

Well, alcohol is not ideal for fat loss, obviously. But it depends what your ultimate goals are. If you are a competing bodybuilder, I would say avoid it - cos if you drink it, the guy stood next to you on stage, beating you, will have avoided alcohol. If you are a regular guy who wants some reasonable mass, and around 10-12% bodyfat, then sensible regular drinking now and again is no problem. Obviously avoid on low carb days if possible.

I find if I'm not drinking to get drunk there's no point.
But I like to stick to the spirits if I do

Re: Alcohol

Well ideal would be to drink just the ethanol (the drug in the alcohol) mixed with something as low cal as you determine, so essentially vodka with one of those zero drinks or a diet one? Having beer, cider, wine etc you just have more stuff in with the ethanol. Depends how your drinking i guess, because if i was just having 1 or 2 drinks i wouldnt choose vodka, just dont taste that great.

Also /agree with only drinking to get drunk, i dont really feel the need for odd ones, rather save em and hit my liver at once :beer1:

Edit: re-reading your post, if its just for a holiday in a couple of months the diff between a pint and a vodka + mixer is only gonna be a couple of hundred cal's at most, and one night a week this is hardly breaking the scales imo.

we are all different at end of the day, after a stressfull week i like to have one or two drinks but not get drunk, just to relax and take the edge off..... to be honest it affects my training big time if i get steaming on the weekend,

think you indirectly answered my question as well, if the differance is a couple of hundred calls then think i will stick to the vodka + diet iron brew, allthough i can see that going right out the window with the boxing on Sat, cant wait for that,

all help is appriciated guys so thanks,

this forum is packed with lots of people who seem to know thier stuff, glad i found it

You will die very fast and have a hard way to go.
I know a dog that drank some and it was dead in one day.
It tasts very sweet to animals.

OK, alcohol is the bodies preferred energy source, yep, you drink some alcohol and the body will switch off fat burning (which is mostly the cals when sitting or lying around), and burn that alcohol first and foremost.

A couple of drinks a day is fine, anymore and it takes the tonic effects away.
It is good for the heart if taken one a day or two, benefits drop after that.

Alcohol can elivate estrogen and lower testosterone while in the system, again 1 to 2 drinks wont do this.

When I did the low carb deal I bought the Michalob(sp) ultra, coors has one too.

But really the clear drinks that have the most alcohol would be best, even Bercardi 151 would be fine in a diet drink.
Clear drinks with the highest proof would be best, if you have to have some alcohol.

completely agree, i think if drinking becomes a habbit and just something you do, then it has already become a problem!

Re: Alcohol

Anti freeze, will cause orgain failure quick.
There was this lady that was giving her husband small amounts every day, he got sick over time and they didnt know what was causing it.
They finally figured it out, but he was too far gone.

Low carb beers
Michelob Ultra 2.6 grams 95 calories
Miller Lite 3.2 grams 95 calories
Coor's Aspen Edge 2.4 grams
Rolling Rock Rock Green Light 2.6 grams
Bud Light -- 6.6 carb grams
Coors Light -- 5 carb grams
Smirnoff Ice -- 32 carb grams

But ultra and aspen have almost the same but ultra is 3.9 percent alcohol and aspen is 4.2, and the aspin has a better flavor and is actually darker with a little less cals.

Smirnoff ice mmmm it so sugary sweet though! Bud is alright, not many places have I been where they serve the lighter versions though!

Re: Alcohol

clear drinks are usually spirits rather than beers. vodka, whiskey, rum are all purer than beers and have the benefit of less chance of giving you a hangover.

and anyway, drinking antifreeze is a bad idea.... you are much better off on dragster fuel...
