Bodyfat measuring scales!?

Hello all, you know those scales that you can buy which have the little metal plates on the base and measure body fat as well as weight? How acurate is that actually? I've been training pretty hard over the last 4 weeks and have photo evidence pretty good love handle shrinkage although the scales still report a pretty much constant bodyfat %. Are these thigs useless or am I being a little impatient?

Re: Bodyfat measuring scales!?

If you see changes then sod the scales. But from what i've read apparently they're 'fairly' accurate.

Re: Bodyfat measuring scales!?

Hmmm, I guess I'll have to invest in a pair of calipers on eBay and then I'll be able to know if my little electronic device is lying to me. I'm slowly loosing weight while maintaining constant bf% (i.e. loosing muscle or possibly brain cells, lol), so either the scales are wrong or I'm doing something seriously wrong with my diet/training! Will post back when I have calipers

My missus bought one of those cheap handheld electronic versions.

I thought I would give it a go - It read 39.5 % BF PMSL

Re: Bodyfat measuring scales!?

Aparently because they depend on conducting a small charge through ya it can vary heavily on how much water you drink, and also if measured through your feet it just goes up one leg and down the other across your stomach so can alter the reading too.

Re: Bodyfat measuring scales!?

As it's all water related then I guess even being on creatine would throw it slightly out of whack!? (me being hopeful again lol ;))
