about to start 9 week cut....

Eating around 650g carbs 250g protein and little fat per day at the moment. Training 5 days a week with no cardio.

Im about to start a 9 week cutting diet and Im wondering where to start. I have some ideas as I have dieted before, but I was wondering what others would do if in the same situation.

Im 17st around 15%bf @ 5ft 7in.

I was thinking as my first point of call to cut carbs to 450g a day that would be a 200g drop. Leave protein and carbs as they are to begin with. Also add 30mins of cardio every morning.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I suggest you cycle your carbs including high and very low days rather than just dropping them and keeping them there which will just lead to a metabolism slow down.

Re: about to start 9 week cut....

was thinking about cycling my carbs a bit later on in the diet. I think that my metabolism should be pretty high for a few weeks to begin with. Maybe when I have dropped to 250 - 300 around week6?? a day then start cycling, 50g 150g 250g????

Re: about to start 9 week cut....

Why not cycle right off the bat but use higher days than 250 grams i would say more like 650-800 on the highest days.

Re: about to start 9 week cut....

Not going to bs and say i know all that much about dieting but what i always done for cutting and probably what i will do again when i prep for a contest this year is.... 3 days low 100 grams 1 day higher 300 carb 3 days low 100 carb 1 day very high 500 carb, i mean there is a ton of ways to do it and it all depends on your body you dont want to get so depleted you lose muscle but you want to be constantly ripping away fat while keeping your metabolism high.

Re: about to start 9 week cut....

Been thinking about it and to be honest with you I think I will leave cycling the carbs until later on in the diet. I will use it as a tool to shed extra fat if/when my metabolism slows down.

Do you think that a 200g drop in carbs from off season would be too much to do straight off the bat?
