Started again, now worried I'm doing too much cardio!

Hi again guys, been a while since I was last on this forum and I certainly missed the advice you all gave!

Anyway new job as usual means new start. For a bit of background I work in the film industry and have just finished working on a film at Pinewood studios, it's meant I've been working from 5am till about 9pm 5 sometimes 6 nights a week which really took it out of me, yet I decided to ditch my car and tried cycling to work, so I replaced the 13 mile drive with a cycle so I was cycling 26 miles a day to get there and back, I was doing it on and off and when I eventually weighed myself a week before the film was due to finish I realised I had lost a stone, which I mostly contribute to cycling and eating a bit better (fruit and healthy snacks were frequently on hand on set).

However when the film finished I dreaded that the weight would come back on, and it did, I went from 15st 8, down to 14st 10, then crept back up to 15 st 5 few weeks after the production finished.

So now I have a new job working for a camera company in Uxbridge. which is a similar distance (12.5 miles) from my house. I have re joined my old gym now that I'm back from uni but have only been twice in one month.

So personally I would love to cycle to work 5 times a week, that would be 25 miles a day, 125 miles a week. Which I know is a lot so one of my questions, would that be too much, a lot fo fitness advice is allow muscles a day to rest, which I know doesnt always apply to cardio but a 25 mile cycle (2 hrs, 1 each way) is quite abit of cardio in a day, should I be doing less? maybe 3 days a week.

I have chosen the best time of year to start cycling brrrrrr. Which brings me to my next and final part, my new job means i do shift work, one weeK I work 6am-2pm (earlies) mon-fri, then the next week its 2pm-10pm (lates), and so on. I am finding it hard to work out a good routine, since if im to cycle when i'm on earlies I need to leave an hour before to allow for the cycle rather than the 25 mins to drive) and its so cold right now at 4.30! and when I'm on lates I end up cycling back at 10pm or after.

I want to include my gym in my weekly schedule since I know how important it is to incorporate weights into a routine, yet its quite hard so If anyone has any ideas to help me out I'd really appreciate it!

A bit about me, I'm 22, male, currently 15st 2, 5ft9, body fat around 28% (not the fittest bunny).

Target 12.5st

Thanks guys!

Will

Ride there and back a couple of days and rest the others. How hard would you consider the ride to be?

Lets face it - it's your diet. 25 miles per day and you only lost 1 stone.

Post up your diet mate and lets get down to the real problem.

That kind of milage you would lose about 2 pounds a week.
This is perfictally within a weight loss plan.
Only reason you gained the weight back as you were burning less calories than you were taking in.
At 22, I doubt you will lose much muscle mass from all that cycleing.

If I was you, I would resistance train tuesdays and thursdays and Saturday, and ride to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
You would get into shape very fast.
