Help required calculating body fat.......

Hi, another newbie !!!

As a starting point I need to be able to calculate what % body fat I have.

I don't have calipers or any other devices but know my weight and hieght.

I've tried one website which told me I had 7% BF which I think is wrong, I would say I can grab at least an inch on the sides of my stomach !

Once I know this then I can work out how many cals I should be getting.

I did try to find an answer via the site search but can't find anything which explains how to determine BF specifically.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help required calculating body fat.......

You cant work out bf % from a height and weight chart mate.

If u have no calipers then best bet would be to post some pics and we can all have a guess.

7% is extremely lean, as lean as a bodybuilder on stage.

Welcome to the site anyway mate

Re: Help required calculating body fat.......

Yeah that's what I thought having read this site 7% did sound very wrong.

I don't have pics to hand so will have to take some and post up.

I was using Maximuscle products for a few months until I came on here and realised that the MP whey etc was cheaper.

One thing that does seem to be said on here a lot is that many weight gainers just add fat which I don't understand as they use complex carbs and typically the recommended dose is about the same as 100g of oats in terms of carbs ????

That said, I am currently doing a 3 day split and 2-3 cardio sessions so hopfully this will get the BF level down as I don't eat too much crap but I think getting the balance of carb and fat levels is where I might be going wrong at the moment.

If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.
