Cardio

Ok i'm going to try and loose as much body fat over the next 3 weeks as possible.

I'm going to go for a 30-45min walk before breakfast.

I'm wondering about when i go running, i can only run at a decent speed for about 10mins. Should i do this for 10mins or run slower for 30mins +?

Also is it ok to do cardio every day after weights at the gym

Thanks

Re: Cardio

When doing cardio before breakfast keep it low intensity - i usually just do a fast walk for 40mins on a high incline treadmill.

I wouldnt do exercise everyday of the week, you need rest time for your CNS and PNS to repair. You can do cardio after weights though, providing nutrition is good.

Also, dont try and ditch the weight too quickly as you'll probably lose a lot of muscle unless again, diet is spot on.

Re: Cardio

Just a bog standard walk? If thats what your doing, why?? You walk everyday dont you? Make it challenging, like hill walking - or seeing as you love the gym so much, get to the gym early and do some early morning high incline low intensity walking on the tread mill - then come home and have your first meal.

It will kick start your metabolism and you'll feel better for getting out the house and working early instead of getting up that late in the afternoon n doing f**k all.

Re: Cardio

I'd get up earlier i.e. sometime in the morning! to fit it in and then you've got more time for food etc etc. just my 2pence worth but surely you wont be kicking off your digestion/ metabolism early enough getting up at that point. what time do you go to bed? dont forget if you leave it too long sinse your last meal you will start to store your fat up.

Re: Cardio

Liam try this routine if you like.

Treadmill incline 6 and 8kph = 2 mins

Bike resitance 6 and rpm 100 for = 2mins

xtrainer incline 1 and level 10 = 2mins

stepper 50steps per 2mins = 2mins

Do that 3 to 4 times and you will be dripping of sweat mate. its great and you dont get bored as your changing machines all the time.

Re: Cardio

Try alternating between running and walking.I suggest running for 5 mins at a decent intensity then walk(recovery period) for 5 mins then simply repeat until your fooked. As you become fitter extend the running periods and reduce the walking.Either do this after your weights or preferably on a none lifting day.
As ah24 has stated, your diet also needs to be good.

yea doesnt make much sense when i read it now but what i was sort of trying to say was that long periods of not eating anything will put your body into a state of reduced calorie burning as it thinks it is not going to get any food....

suppose the opposite of this would be eating frequently smaller ammounts to increase your metabolism.

my point was basically if your sleeping in all day you probably wont loose much fat - but from what you said this isn't the case so just disregard

hope thats clearer now??!

Ah, i see what you mean mate. Of course, you're right, missing meals is definitely going to reduce your basal metabolic rate as will simply not eating enough.

As for sleeping, it's a balance really. If the lad is staying up late and lying in bed all day then he's not going to get noticable results from his training. Best thing would be to go to bed earlier so that he can fit in a good 8-10 hour spell and get his a$$ up early for cardio. Granted, we grow during sleep but he needs some training stimulus and good nutrition in order to do it.
