Diet advise

The workout is ok, I think but like most working 9-5 and being away from my desk or canteen makes sticking to the diet or fitting it in tuff.

I'm trying to lose the fluffy and look leaner.

Current diet:

8am - Porridge and coffee
11am - Fruit, coffee, protein bar (or Protein shake if I can't do this)
1pm - Chicken, salad sandwich
3pm - Fruit, coffee, protein bar (or Protein shake if I can't do this)
5pm - Ham sandwich
8pm - Protein shake, Chicken and veg

I am also taking some Fat Burning tablets at the moment (Hot Rox)

Please any help or advise would be great.

Re: Diet advise

You need protein with your breakfast. Egg whites would be good.

What fruit are you having? Not all fruit is good for cutting.

MRP shakes would probably be better than protein bars.
1pm Just go with the Chicken and salad - add a boiled egg or flax/udos
5pm Same as above
8pm I'd go for fish and veg
10pm Eggs or whey shake before bed

When do you train and what do you have afterwards?

Re: Diet advice

Thanks for my first reply!!

Fruit, mainly apples can't do bananas

I see, lots more protein and less carbs.

My concern with less carbs is I get very tired and have less energy. Will this pass?

I train Mon, Wed, Fri. After training I stretch, have dinner, watch TV then sleep!!

Re: Diet advise

Hi Bluey,id definitely cut back on,or preferably cut out,the coffee,as it plays havoc with your metabolism and will not encourage fat loss. Also you have adopted the principle of eating little and often which is excellent but i notice you like your bread, try and replace with a better choice or failing that at least switch to pitta(wholemeal).Invisible has already suggested adding healthy fats which will also benefit you and are an option when replacing carbs. Finally try tapering down your diet as the day goes on so as you are eating less carbs towards the end of the day, however, this will not apply around workout time as you appear to be discovering,as you need them for energy and recovery.Have a good look around the site especially in the diet section for ideas.Para.

Re: Diet advise

As Para has said, I suggested an increase in good fats to provide you with energy. Carbs aren't the only fuel source your body can use. Some say fats are actually a more efficient source.

Apples are fine - bananas are not good while cutting anyway IMO. Berries are also great if you like your fruit.

Re: Diet advice

Chaps, thanks for the feedback it's really useful.

Will certainly look around the site further but I have another question:

The egg white - raw or cooked? Feel dumb asking....

Re: Diet advise

Your choice, however,if you opt for raw,10 secs in the micro is generally recommended to kill possible bacteria.Enjoy.

Entirely up to you. If you can manage it, why not scramble them. Not always easy after a bowl of porridge or visa versa!

There is the other option of mixing Whey in with your porridge, but I'm just concerned about the amount of Whey you'd be consuming.

Maybe drop the shake at night and have cottage cheese or something whole - this would "allow" a shake in the morning. The point was just make sure you get some protein in - the choice is yours
