![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Any good diet for this flab? Hi D, Your still very young and should be able to burn those calories off with regular cardio excercise. What do you do for excercise at the moment? Do you do any sport? or only on your Playstation? ![]() My advice is... Concentrate on CARDIO! CARDIO! and more CARDIO! But you will also need to resistence train so you do not lose muscle. Losing weight on paper is VERY simple.. if you excercise and burn more calories than you EAT each day... you WILL lose weight. This is the most important thing for you to know. The right FOOD is even more important than the right excercise. Dont expect to see a body like a greek god in a few weeks.. it will take MONTHS! The lower abs are the very last section to shed the thick layer of fat covering your abs.. you will see you face, Chest, legs and arms lose weight before your stomach! But there's no way around this.. you cant spot reduce fat from where ever you wish unfortunately. You need one main secret ingredient... DISAPLINE! with your Diet and Training. If you continue to eat ****... you will continue look like ****... (and be a walking health hazard). I have been there myself... junk food was all I would eat... NOTHING BUT FAT! YUK... and my heart must have been wishing to be put in someone else that didnt have a death wish. Drink plenty of water this very important to losing weight even if you dont like it... DRINK IT! (I actually like a nice cold glass of water... drinking cold water actually burns calories as the body has to warm this back uop to body temperture). Try and have a glass of water next to you when ever you can and sip it.... stop drinking sugar based drinks...or sugar based foods! Start eating more Fibre.. (green Veggies... these will burn calories!) Soya is good protein source (v.low fat) and lean meats. Look at the diet/training section... you will see lots of good advice here... and ask plenty of questions that you cant find already posted. Well done for taking a step in the right direction.. joining a forum to get fit is a good move.. ;) and in a few more months you can be giving other people advice on how you lost so much weight! But nobody can do it for you mate... its hard work... but its well worth it and you'll look and feel great if you have the disapline. Hope some of this helps.. and... ...Good luck.. ![]() |

![]() | Re: Any good diet for this flab? You can definately shift that mate My son had a school medical 3 months ago and we were shocked that hes put on a stone in the last year. I fixed him up with one of the personal trainers at the gym and we now do regular sessions of: treadmill, circuit of the weights, rowing and then a final run around the town. He's lost about 12lbs in 7 weeks of doing this The other key factor is your diet. Why not post up what you're eating and we can offer some suggestions

Probably got a good bit of growing left in ya. I wouldn't bother with any weights until your a few years older all i can suggest do as much walking / running / cycling as possible. I find that now i am training every time i play football with my m8s (just a mess about) i try harder and push my self... this way it gives me a good workout without the bordom of running on a machine. I suggest you try something like that, or even walking the dog once a day.... you'll be surpised the effect something little like that can have one your body when you've never done it before |

| Who nicked my hair? | Re: Any good diet for this flab? Just to contradict some people here.... You have to do something about it NOW. You really don't want to end up like me.. struggling to lose weight now I'm 40. If i hadn't been a fat bloater as a teen and done exercising then I might be lean and muscular now rather than being a geeky teen inside reading all the time and avoiding sports. Just because you are young and have growing time in you doesn't mean that you can ignore the flab. Now to agree with the other guys here.. Eating right is most important, followed by weights and cardio. I have taken 9 months to drop 4 stone of flab.... another 2 stone to go to get to somewhere near 15%bf... I found that a low carb diet worked well, but you have to be careful when you stop the low carb so as not to instantly blow up afterwards. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Any good diet for this flab? awrite dude, im guessing given your age that you do very little walking-playstation generation- walk everwhere, you will burn off loads of cals, just stick ipod on and get out and an additional bonus-the heavier you are the more cals burnt off ,this will not hurt your joints like jogging would and no one will give a second glance to you out walking fast compared to jogging with face all red etc, then keep it up when youre at target weight and you wont gain again-strength training good as muscles burn cals at rest but, dont overdo it at your age as you still growing, get out walking and it will go-the advice about water is spot on-stay away from diet coke etc as full of cafeine which will dehydrate you even further |

Disturbed I was a porker when i was your age and i was ridiculed at school. The humiliation drove me to make drastic changes to my body and to find out how to do it. My advice would be to learn, learn, learn. Read everything you can about diet: glycemic index, what proteins do, the importance of healthy fats in the diet, meal timings etc. As for your training, again- do as much research as you can. There is loads of useful advice on these boards. Cardio is the major method of fat burning. It was mentioned above that weights aren't for under 16's. This is dated information. Resistance training of the correct nature doesn't pay detriment to the growth plates as once thought. Body weight exercises done with correct form or some Swiss ball work will give you good functional strength gains and encourage good skeletal development as well as maintaining your basal metabolic rate as you lose body fat. Your hormones may be all over the place at the moment. Carrying a high bf as a teen makes you very succeptable to the effects of oestrogen. Be dedicated and determined to make a change and you'll do great. Keep checking back for advice on the boards. |

Great cardio and builds some muscle too. At 14 you dont wanna be lifting heavy weights, circuit training using your bodyweight only will do fine IMO. Also walking is great exercise! (how do u get to school ?)
