Unhappy losing weight, sport injury with a fooked leg

Hey guys.

Ive been going to the gym for a while now, but commuting to uni has meant that Ive been going a lot less that I want to. I finish my exams in a few weeks so have been planning on getting back to the gym as much as possible. I also play rugby for my local union team which takes up a couple of nights a week.

A week on saturday ago, I snapped my ankle and need to be in a cast for the best part of 8 weeks :-( Im going to find it extra hard to go to the gym now as Im finding it hard to get motivated as my ankle quite a lot.

However, Im still wanting to lose some weight and read that a correct diet is the key to weight lose (+ cardio and high reps). But putting the gym aside for a month or 2 please could you help me out with a diet that will still help me to lose weight.

Im 5'10", 13 stone, quite bulky around the midsection. To be honest, Im not overly botherd about loosing muscle mass at the moment because I just want to slim down. When my cast is off then Ill concentrate on building up again.

All help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Darren

are you cruches mate? - if so then your upperbody strength will still be quite good as for losing weight ab work is ok to do but its the diet that will help you lose fat.....

This needs to be clean food and make sure you get plenty of rest on that ankle!

Your diet is key while not working out!

shorty - yeah im on cruches, ive just had my proper cast put on too.

Ive been doing a lot of ab work later, and been doing light weights at the gym just so that I dont overdo it.

Please could someone suggest a diet that'd be beneficial to me for loosing weight, thanks

Re: losing weight, sport injury with a fooked leg

Sure, but first of all if you are not doing alot of resistance training I would not try to lose as much weight as possible as some lean muscle will be lost due to loss of stimulation.

6 smaller meals a day.
Keep the processed carbs and simple sugars low and eat oats, clean carbs like vegetables and some fruits like berries and apples.
Keep the fiberous vegetables high in the diet.
Drink ice water and lots of it.
Choose clean fats like fish oils, avacado, olive, olive oils, nuts and seeds.

Keep the protein high, and your last meal can be just fats and protein.

If you could, I would seriously consider resistance training even it if is machines. This will spare lean muscle mass when dieting.

Comfry tea is good for bone knitting too
