Feel Ill When Cutting

Hi Guys,

Im on a cut right now and the diet goes realy well until about 15:30pm when I start feeling light headed, tired, start feeling jiddery. At this time my body craves for something sweet and I always fight but then give in because im struggling to do my work with loss of concentration. My meals are every 3 hours (High in Protein, Low Carb) What can i do to tackle this between 15:00 and 18:00?:rage:

Ive been giving into 1 Honeybuns Flapjack 400cals gggggggrrrrrrrhhhhh

Re: Feel Ill When Cutting

OK I'd say this.

Too low carbs

40g oats in the morning is 25-30g carbs which is nothing.

I'd increase this to 80g at least and knock off the 60g Oats that you have before workout.

You are suffering from low blood sugar but then why do you have a flapjack? why not just have some more oats instead at that time. My thought would be that you keep thinking about having that flapjack and therefore you mentally prepare your body for it. I'd take some more oats with you to work and have them instead.

Re: Feel Ill When Cutting

I will try that Tom, your right about me and that ****ing flapjack.

So You want me to drop the oats before the workout and bump up my oats for breakky?

Can I use a sweetner by any chance?

Re: Feel Ill When Cutting

Yes mate I used Splenda all the way through my diet with now detriment to my physique.

If your worried about ass cancer or another stupid scaremongering disease by the sweetner nay sayers then you could use Stevia. I think Sport Dr put up a link for it somewhere.

The thing to remember with your diet is that it is a cumulative effect, so extra oats in the morning can be balanced out by a reduction somewhere else or more effort in the gym. Too many people get caught up by the Puritan diet doctors who have never actually dieted properly themselves and so dont have the first hand experience. Maybe after you've been doing the diet thing for a few years you will be able to stomach chicken and broccoli water and brown rice every day for 12 weeks but TBH I'm still not there myself and I looked half decent on stage

For my show diet I had 1 litre of Diet Pepsi a day and tons of sweetner through Green Tea, Oats etc. I also added in super foods like blueberries and cranberries which are fruit sugars but in terms of the benefits I received from them this was worth it.

Just relax a bit more mate and you'll feel so much better.

Re: Feel Ill When Cutting

Ok Tom I will relax a bit. Will use some sweetner in my oats to make it more interesting and to keep sanity. I use a little nando's sauce sometimes in my meals.

I go to Nando's at least once a week but only order half a chicken and some rice with a bit of spicy stuff on it.

Only time can tell the difference tbh. Im very impatient and I should just wait and see if this diet is working after 3months. If not, back to the drawing board.

3 months? I'd do a show in that time mate. Measure your progress weekly or bi weekly. if nothings happeneing then change, if you see progress continue as normal. I know I said cumulative but 3 months is a bit of a stretch lol.

Oliver, a big issue here, once you have addressed the carb timing is willpower & sheer determination. When I diet for a show, about an hour after having eaten a meal, I am ready to gnaw my own foot off I'm so hungry & woozy, but I absolutely will not give in to it. Look inside & address these issues as well. Dieting is hard even when the carbs are timed to perfection, so to a degree, you will just have to suck it up & think about how awesome you'll look when it's all done.

Re: Feel Ill When Cutting

Thats the difference between a bodybuilder and myself. I just dont want this affecting my work as im losing concentration.

Im going to a show next month in hayes to gain some knowledge and inspiration. Im considering doing a first timers comp next year but i need to sort out this situation with me first.
