In fact, most people I've trained have GAINED lean mass and strength while dieting, as long as you're willing to keep the diet on a VERY small calorie deficit (i.e. the fat comes off slowly) and time carbs correctly. The timed carb diets talked about by Pscarb and Tinytom are ideal for this. What are your current stats and what's your goal out of cutting? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It is diet for fat loss. Yes you will lose some muscle and there is no easy way around it. Depending on the diet, more muscle can be saved. Lowering carbs some, upping the fats (especially good ones), keeping the protein high enough to support what muscle you already have, dont go too low on the cals, this will just tell the body to slow metabolism down. Dont lose more than 2 lbs a week and you will lose more than that the first week or two but stick to the 2 lb mark. Later on you will need to slow that down to like 1 lb a week. Restricting too many calories will result in catabolism, compromised fat losses, slow metabolism. All not good. Keep the proteins high, fats pretty high and drop the carbs, you will lose. Eat every couple of hours small meals, fruits and vegetables and the rest will be history. |
