how to drop excess water?

Any words of advice on how to keep the amount of water the body holds down?

my TBW is usually around the 50% range and this seems a lot to me though it could just as well as be fine as i have no idea!

vit c
glycerol
cellery seeds....or blended cellery in water (1 buch a day, drink the water 3 times a day without the sedement)

the best way to lose water is to drasticly reduce carbs and take fats instead

I agree 100%. It takes over 4g of water for your body to process each gram of carbs you eat so reducting carb will have a marked effect on the amount of water you hold.

Ever thought why people lose som much weight on the atkins diet initialy? Cause they dont eat carbs and the water falls off!!!

As Jimmy says remember to increase the good fats as bodybuilders we still want em cals to grow

would you say then that if the current regime of lower carbs and cardio doesnt get the results i want for my holiday then 2 weeks of atkins would work? should really be ok but just want that "beach bod" to feel good about all the training i have done over the past 12 months.

doing the math then probably about 14lbs to get to about 10% bf, though flat with no love handles would do. 14lbs of fat is probably unrealistic though as i know some muscle will be sacrificed! It is 6 weeks till i go away, what would you say is the best plan of attack? cheers.

are we talking about water or fat here?

water is easy to control..

yes 14lbs is do-able, even 20lbs could be done, but it takes alot of work...you prepared to put in the graft??

Hold my hand up? It is fat mate BF is 23% at the moment. Have concentrated on bulking for the past 12 months and it shows! though i do seem to hold water.
As far as putting in the effort then yes i am prepared to do anything.
Watching my carb intake at the moment and cycling 15 miles 5 times a week on top of my weight training, have just started taking ECA, any other advice would be appreciated.

FAO Jimmy, aftershock & any other good souls

My diet:

7am: protein shake (60g) with water, 100ml orange juice with 5g CEE

8.30am PWO shake with 5g BCAA

10am big bowl of oats or museli, sometimes some toast or crumpets if hungry.

1pm 200g steak/chicken/tuna with salad or rice

3pm Tin of tuna

6pm same as 1pm though usually with more carbs (family meal, oven chips/pasta/rice)

10pm protein shake.

I know that according to studies that the body supposedly cannot process more than 2g of protein per pound of body weight and not more than 50-60g at one time, but would upping the amount I use in my shakes help sustain muscle as I lose fat?

Also if I where to have a crack at the atkins for a month would this be uber detrimental and are protein shakes ok with it? (only i did the atkins for 2 weeks about a year ago and dropped 12lbs but i was weak as a kitten and did not have the same amount of muscle to lose!).

Cider Vinegar

Is it true that the last week before a show, body builders have been known to marinate their chicken, salmon and steak in this to help them shed water?

The stuff stinks so how anyone could do this i have no idea! Holland and Barrett do it in a tablet form. Hope this might help Please blast me if im wrong peeps! :gun:

If you up your water intake you will hold less water.

I notice if I get a good portion of water down me early I urinate the whole day.

Keto diets will hold less water, the figure is .5g for fats compared to 3. g of carbs so fats will hold six times less water than carbs.

I would eat a protein and fat and carb with each meal.
If you want to your last 2 meals can be just protein and fat and no carbs.

carbs can be taken in early in the morning with less chance of spiking blood sugars and immediatly followin a workout with same effect.

So if you ate carbs/fats/proteins in the first half of the day and just protein and fats the last you will lose.

Keto diets work good for me but I do get bloated on carbs, apples, tomatos, asparatus, green beens, strawberries all agree with me and I get zero bloat from them and also they are super low in the GI.

You can always add some fish oils or olive oil to slow down the spiking of the blood sugars.

I would shoot for about 2 lbs a week, any more than that (besides water) will be muscle loss.
