| Wondering how people have the time to do all this over-complicating | your body has been starved of nutrients all night. the first thing you should eat upon waking surely has to be a fast acting protein? if you werent a body builder i would say go ahead and run on an empty stomach but not in this instance. when i used to do cardio in the mornings i would set my alarm for an hour before i was due to wake. i would have a shake by the bed with a banana in it(made the night before). i would drink this and then go back to sleep for an hour. this enables you to do cardio without feeling full and it also stops your body using up all the reserves when you do the cardio

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah get a shake in you first mate and one preferable with about 25g of carbs in there as well.. Remember when you do cardo you dont just burn fat, you burn fat and carbs in various ratios depending on the intensity of the cardio.. The lower the intensity the higher the percentage of fat you burn, but the less calories per min obviously cause your not working as hard... I like to hit the eliptical trainer and keep the heart rate at or below 120bpm for about 35min. You will burn carbs and fats at about 50/50 at that rate... Now if the carbs are not in there whats your body gona use for fuel instead, amimos thats what and we all know where its gona get those from.. muscle... So yeah shake with protein and a little carbs 30min before the cardio IMO..
