pain just below hip....

got a horrible pain in the area i can only describe as where my leg goes into my hip socket. only hurts when i squat or deadlift and feels like it just needs popping back out and feels like something is between the bone/cartlidge and muscle.

have tried ibuprofen gel on area to se if its muscle thats pulled but that didnt work. feels deeper than that.

anyone any ideas and who should i go see, the physio or sports massage bloke?

cheers for any advice. i miss squatting :(

Re: pain just below hip....

Hi mate,

Sounds like a tendon problem to me...physio would probably be the best bet to be honest.

On the image below can you download it, put a thick red circle around the area's' that hurt and paste it back up?

Re: pain just below hip....

I get similar pain in my right hip joint. Only difference is i can squat and leg press as heavy as i can and i get no pain/discomfort. The pain starts for me when i use a treadmill or elipt' for cardio.

Think it was started by running, my right foot doesn't go down flat, goes down on outside edge, which must put a lot of strain on my hip and knee joint

started to just use bike for cardio after a short break, n thing appear to be getting better.

Re: pain just below hip....

hi all sorry for late reply,

have hopefully attached the pic properly.

the pain is only really there when i squat/deadlift and there is no shooting pain. it also hurts when i push down on the area, it also feels like there is a lump at the site when i push down.

cheers for the input guys, i'm going to get myself booked into see the physio as soon as i've got all my uni work out the way.

Hernia maybe? Or is it a bit low? I sometimes get referal pain into my groin from a swollen piriformis (sp?) - so like Hacks said, it sound be sciatica. In which case stretching can help A LOT.

Go to the injury forum. They will be able to help you greatly.

In the mean time get your missus to massage the area with a rolling pin. If there's a lump in the muscle reseting the muscle tone will help.
