Grade 2 Harmstring Tear

Hey

I have a grade 2 hamstring tear and I'm just looking for ideas on some dynamic stretches so I can build some strength back into it.

Thanks,
Jock

Massage first and try to push the muscle back to where it tore.
It fill reattach where ever it can.

Id just massage it twards its attachment points.

Re: Grade 2 Harmstring Tear

A grade two strain is bad, but not a complete detatchment so you will more than likely regain full function eventually with little deformation of the muscle belly. This is provided that you get regular deep friction massage to keep scar tissue to a reasonable level & to keep fibres aligned properly during the 'remodelling' phase after the haemotoma has gone.

Stretching should be very gentle at the moment and don't start any real resistance work for another four weeks or so. If you are seeing a physio they will no doubt have supplied a dynaband to do some basic strengthening exercises for now. Patience is paramount here, if you are too eager to get back to full speed, you can easily elongate the healing process threefold.

Is it just me or does anyone else find Pauls posts super informative in the rehab of injuries?

Re: Grade 2 Harmstring Tear

Thankyou sir, I do keep an eye out for threads that will allow me to keep my own knowledge on A & P and injury therapy up to date. I find it's a great way to keep things fresh in my mind, plus I can bore people into a coma into the bargain!

Re: Grade 2 Harmstring Tear

He is absolutely tip top in my book on his information.
Thank you for your time to post your knowledge!

I had a grade 2 hamstring tear. What you said was spot on.
I also employeed vitamin E regimen to reduce scarring while healing and gently stretching.

Re: Grade 2 Harmstring Tear

Thanks, we all learn something here, for example; I did'nt know vitamin E could be used to reduce scarring. Thanks, I'll read up on that.
