Seriously though, it really knacks when doing legs especially, takes ages to warm up aswell but after I push through my first few initial sets it seems to go away, well I put it in the back of my mind and try and forget about it. It kinda feels like someone is pulling it really hard with plyers.... Think it was from when I ran into the corner of the coffee table....

Pulling hard with plyers?? From where? Front, back?

Does it feel like its not stable at all? Is there any restriction in the movement?

You could be trapping some cartilage (maniscus) - but its more likely that you've got a tight, strained or bruised patellar tenton if its pulling at the front. If the joint is stable then I don't think you'll have any tears in any ligaments - very good thing!

Is the pain above, below or behind the knee cap? What steching, if any, do you do before squatting?

If its more of a joint thing and you get cracking or popping then increase your cod liver oil and fishoil intake.

Kind of below I would say. I don't actually stretch but I warm up with just the bar for 25 reps or warm up with light leg extensions. I take in 15ml of Flaxseed oil ED....
Thanx, Ake....

I'd say stretch then, esp given that it goes away after the first few sets...

Marvin will become famous soon enough
Re: Hurty Knee....

IT doesnt sound like serious ligament or cartiledge damage or you wouldnt be training.
Try greenlipped muscle extract as a supplement any of the aforementioned oils eg cod lver flaxseed.
ice or heat in a gel pack will reduce the swelling and elevation will drain excess fluid.

Re: Hurty Knee....

Hi, sorry to hijak but I've been having knee pain for a couple of weeks now. It's on the inside of my knee, doesn't feel like the joint and is fine when I'm standing or walking, but hurts when my leg bends to the side... if that makes sense. If I lay on my side, have to keep it bent or it hurts.
Anyone got any ideas what that might be????

Re: Hurty Knee....

Hi

I had a problem with my right knee last year, it was swollen due to some fluid that had collected there.
What had happened was id torn some cartiledge on the inside of my leg (cant remember the proper name for the bit it was)
The Doctor and myself came to the conclusion that it was down to a poor set of squats! :( Id actually had the problem for about 8 months before I got it looked at! He gave me some anti inflamitories for the swelling and some glucosamine/chondroitin to help repair the cartiledge, after about 6 weeks it was pretty much healed, but I took it easy on the squats for a while!

Try some glucosamine/chondroitin (sp) it really did help me
